Historia
Captain Dominika Egorova of the Russian Intelligence Service (SVR) has returned from the West to Moscow and the Center, the headquarters of her service. She finds things worse than when she left. She despises the men she must serve, the oligarchs and crooks and thugs of Putin's Russia. What no one knows is that Dominika is working for the CIA as Washington's most sensitive penetration of SVR and the Kremlin.

Historia
How can we make intelligent decisions about our increasingly technology-driven lives if we don’t understand the difference between the myths of pseudoscience and the testable hypotheses of science? Pulitzer Prize-winning author and distinguished astronomer Carl Sagan argues that scientific thinking is critical not only to the pursuit of truth but to the very well-being of our democratic institutions.

Food for thought
Revisado: 09-30-20
If you approach this with a truly open mind you will be all right. This is a good exercise for the brain..
Carl tends to be an elitist and when he delves into the political he is a bit too progressive for my taste. However there is much here of value.

Historia
Some 73,000 years ago, the Mount Toba supervolcano in toda's Indonesia erupted, releasing the energy of a million tons of explosives. So much ash and debris was injected into the stratosphere that it partially blocked the sun's radiation and caused global temperatures to drop for a decade. In this book, Donald R. Prothero presents the controversial argument that the Toba catastrophe nearly wiped out the human race, leaving only about a thousand to ten thousand breeding pairs of humans worldwide.

I almost quit
Revisado: 02-11-20
Throughout the book especially early on, the use of both Imperial and metric numbers was very annoying. This is unnecessary for the intended audience and is very distracting from the information being presented.

Historia
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

not even decent narration could save it.
Revisado: 10-03-18
I usually like David's books. but this was just plain lazy writing. scattered plot with virtually no character development. David if this is the best you can do it's just time to turn in your quill.

Interesting
Revisado: 07-27-18
Writen in first person. I can not know if true or not. If true it is one hell of a tail. You would need to listen (read) for your self to decide. It flows well and worth 4 or 5 stars if true. I recommend you see for your self.

Historia
At a time when the edge of American settlement barely reached beyond the Appalachian Mountains, two visionaries, President Thomas Jefferson and millionaire John Jacob Astor, foresaw that one day the Pacific would dominate world trade as much as the Atlantic did in their day. Just two years after the Lewis and Clark expedition concluded in 1806, Jefferson and Astor turned their sights westward once again. Thus began one of history's dramatic but largely forgotten turning points in the conquest of the North American continent.

Major flaw
Revisado: 05-29-18
Well writen story. Better than well writen. The performance could not be better.
So why a two star overall? With out maps you become totally lost. With some basic maps this would be an all time best ever book. As it is I do not recommend unless you have a strong working knowledge of North American geography.

Historia
This adventure in science and imagination, which the Medical Tribune said might herald "a Copernican revolution for the life sciences", leads the listener through unexplored jungles and uncharted aspects of mind to the heart of knowledge. In a first-person narrative of scientific discovery that opens new perspectives on biology, anthropology, and the limits of rationalism, The Cosmic Serpent reveals how startlingly different the world around us appears when we open our minds to it.
