Historia
The world's worst air disaster happened more than 40 years ago on a remote Atlantic Ocean island, when two fully loaded 747 passenger jets collided after a horrendous series of human errors. One of the jets, KLM Flight 4805, was traveling more than 150 miles an hour and was within seconds of lifting off when it crashed into Pan Am Flight 1736 taxiing in its path. The loss of lives was staggering - 583 dead. The crash happened after a lengthy series of major and minor human errors. In the intervening years, has aviation advanced to the point that such a disaster can't happen again?

This audible greatly details minutia about the senior citizens who survived the crash - what card games they liked, hobbies, etc. There was little about the actual incident, and nothing not easily available online. Throughout the story ‘psychological’ studies are cited - all from the 70’s. The little commentary regarding the pilot’s actions were often inaccurate - typical online babble. Very disappointing.

The author's voice brought this story to life!
Revisado: 09-01-21
This audiobook opens up with the exquisite voice of prolific narrator George Guidall. After his introduction, Linda Appleman Shapiro picks up as the narrator in her beautiful calming voice. It's such a pleasure to listen to a memoir told by the actual author and to hear the story with all the emotions and sincerity that it was written in.
By any outsider looking in, Linda Appleman Shapiro had an idealic childhood growing up in Brooklyn with her beautiful parents and brilliant older brother. But, Linda opens her heart and shares the true pain, chaos and love inside her home in this captivating story of her life. In vulnerable plain talk, Linda peels away the layers of her mother's traumatic childhood in Russia and immigration to the United States. Putting up a good front like so many of us do, her mother's sporadic mental health crisis throughout Linda's childhood remained hidden inside their home, silently impacting Linda as a young girl.
Aside from a captivating story, I learned much about the lack of mental health care just one generation ago, helping me to better understand events in my own childhood - which like Linda, weren't talked about.
The way Linda ultimately made a wonderful life for herself as an adult is an inspiration for us all, and her comforting voice made this audiobook feel like a talk with a good friend - making this Audible a must listen to!

Historia
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Boring
Revisado: 08-14-21
This book started out good, but quickly got boring and tripe. Every rich person was evil. Every teenager a stereotype. And the story just didn’t go anywhere. I admit I gave up before the end, but I hung in there for 7 hours. The narrator was really good, except his teenager voices all sounded like cranky 8 year olds. Teens don’t talk like that. His other voices were impressive.

Historia
Sally has recently left an unfulfilling job to volunteer at a living history museum, where she is assigned to the Death House. Every day, she dons Victorian mourning garb and describes traditional funeral services to tourists. It sounds depressing as hell, but for Sally, it’s less depressing than her tepid marriage to her childhood sweetheart. This becomes all too clear when she accidentally travels through time and space to a liminal world where the ghosts of the living history museum haunt its grounds. There, she meets and falls hard for Victorian-era pretty boy Nathaniel.

Story could have been better, but I couldn’t get past the overacting in the narration.
