Historia
Cape Colony is proving a tiresome assignment for Captain Kydd's daring commander-in-chief. Rumours of popular unrest in the Spanish colonies and of a treasure hoard spur him to assemble a makeshift invasion fleet and launch a bold attack on the capital of the Viceroyalty of the River Plate, Buenos Aires. Navigating the treacherous bars and mud flats of the river, the British invasion force lands and wins a battle against improbable odds, taking the capital and the silver. But nothing is as simple as it seems here....

Kidd summary
Revisado: 09-30-15
This Kidd series has been fun and I'll be waiting for the final books. All are baised on history and provide a great review of events of the time. As sea stories they can't be beat.

Historia
The youngest captain in His Majesty's Navy, with a reputation for landing impossible assignments, Lord Ramage is dispatched to the Caribbean islands of Martinique and Diamond Rock. The mission seems humdrum: barricade the French within Fort Royal. But sent to sea in the Juno with a crew grown restless and undisciplined under the prior commmand of a drunk, Ramage realizes his vessel may not be up to battle with the French.

Historia
Before he was anointed to carry on the legacy of Robert Ludlum's Janson Command series, and before he collaborated with Clive Cussler on the fan favorite Isaac Bell series, Justin Scott created this suspenseful adventure tale, a novel of love and revenge set on the high seas. Written in 1978, this is considered by many to be one of the best maritime thrillers of all time. As an expert in the world of ships and sailing, Justin Scott creates an authentic maritime world, making The Shipkiller all the more thrilling because it could be a true story.

Wonderful Adventure
Revisado: 01-16-14
I couldn't stop reading. For someone who'd spent considerable time at sea in a small boat it brought back lots of recollections of encounters with bad weather and big ships. The story is very gripping, to the point where I was awake most of two nights reading it.

The magnificent ship is already boiling over with a mutinous plot that is just about to break into the open when, just off the coast of Western Australia, it strikes an unseen reef in the middle of the night.

Storm Front
Revisado: 02-18-12
Fun story and humor, great narration. I would have given it a full 5* if it hadn't gotten so verbose. At times it was hard to listen to the details of the present situation when it was obvious that changes were soon to come. From others' reviews it sounds like things improve as you get into the series, so I will listen to the next in line.

More than 12,000 years ago, in one of the greatest triumphs of prehistory, humans colonized North America, a continent that was then truly a new world. Just when and how they did so has been one of the most perplexing and controversial questions in archaeology.

First Peoples - Fantastic
Revisado: 10-30-11
This is a fantastic summary of our present understanding of early human life in America. It not only gave me a good summary of migration to and through America, but also the science behind this understanding. Though the explanations got quite technical at times (genetics, for example), I never felt overwhelmed. Both the writing and reading were great.
