Historia
The strangest thing about Annie's new reality isn't that she's now in the body of a seven-year-old child, the beloved Lillith, feared dead by her family after a particularly nasty bout of pneumonia. It's that she's constantly having to conceal her adult intellect, which is not only advanced but otherworldly. Sure, being a young woman and a grad student in twenty-first-century America had its challenges, but this life as Lillith presents even tougher obstacles. She must tread carefully to conceal her vast knowledge of biology, math, physics, and . . . being an adult.

it's really cool to see how the author incorporates general philosophies of anarchy into the protagonists thinking, as well as the in depth insight into character motivations for the other characters.

I was not expecting to like this series as much as I did. I binged through all of it in like a week, and it was really fun. The ending especially hits home, you know a book is good when it makes you cry. My only real criticism is that I wanted more time with the Kids and seeing the Protagonist be a mom a bit longer, but it was still very good, and maybe if we're lucky a side series will get made about them.

Pretty good interpretation of fantasy.

I enjoyed how consistent the setup and payoff was throughout the story. They were very good at writing characters to be just the worst people, and making the reader hate them. The magic system is interesting and I'd like to see it expanded upon.

Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

This is becoming one of my favorite series, I can't wait for the next one. I love the concepts behind the magic system and the way they adapt to make a weird sort of continuity. I also love how the story progresses in general, and how human the main character feels. 10/10 would listen again.

Historia
This is the story of Dan—a high school dropout who plays guitar in a heavy metal band and has a minimum wage job wearing a mouse costume. He's not exactly destined for great things. Then Dan wakes up in another world—a world where science never progressed past the Middle Ages, and the laws of physics have been replaced by role-playing game rules. Dan makes some mistakes—some big mistakes. Dan becomes a Death Knight: a walking personification of death and darkness. Now, Dan must fight monsters, zealots, and demons just to survive, and he must do it all alone.

I always know a book is good when I stop reading/listening to it, and I can't help but think about what might happen next. There are very few books that elicit an emotional reaction from me, and this has done it. The author wonderfully words parts in such a way that I feel angry or betrayed on the behalf of the protagonist. I really hope they continue the series, it's always nice to see an unconventional protagonist who maintains their character throughout the book. He's true to himself, and his thought processes are very consistent.

Historia
A devastating attack by the lich Quatach-Ichl has left Zorian and Zach reeling as their remaining restarts tick away. As they recover, they make preparations for their final confrontations with Red Robe, the lich, the primordial being, and the invaders—all within the shadow of a question they can’t answer: can Zorian and Zach both survive outside the time loop? When the time loop is broken, sacrifices will be made, bonds will be tested, and trust will be more important than any magical skill or power—and even then, success is not guaranteed.

I loved it
Revisado: 04-06-23
I've been following the audiobook version of this series for a while now and I have to say this is probably the best series I've listened to. The narration is fantastic and the story itself is so cohesive and intertangled that it is wonderful to listen to. In the time leading up to the release of this audiobook I relistened to the previous 3 and was shocked to find minor details that on the first listen really were minor but after going through the books again, I've found them to be largely important in one way or another. *SPOILER WARNING*
For example in the first book it is a minor detail that Vaers Boranova (idk how it's spelled) was expelled from the academy. He's not mentioned at all in book 2 but in book 3 it is relevant that Zach has forgotten about him entirely (like most of the listeners on the first go). I find it impressive that such a minor detail from the first book actually turned out to be important. There are other examples but this book and more importantly this series is a solid 10/10 in my book.

Historia
Hello stranger, my name is Tal, and I’m not an adventurer—those people are crazy. I’m just a sorcerer who is masquerading as a wizard. Oh, and I’m searching for answers about my parents’ mysterious deaths. Also monsters and other foes seem to show up wherever I go. All right, I see it. My new traveling companions are seasoned adventurers and are teaching me their ways—or at least they were before something happened to Time.

Fantastic
Revisado: 04-03-23
This is definitely a creative example of time loop storytelling. It truly uses the journal as a reference in one of the most creative ways I've ever listened to. Many books will start out with the premise that the book you are reading is a journal of some sort, lean into it for a couple chapters, and then promptly forget, choosing instead to continue as the novels they always were. This book, however, is very consistent and insistent that it is the journal of the protagonist, only interrupted by the occasional article pulled from another source, and restructured for easier reading. Beyond the interesting style there is also a well written story. The protagonist is well written and explains their thoughts well, and furthermore they learn as they write and go on tangents that not only provide further context but also adapt the character as the story goes on. My only real complaint about the book would be that there isn't yet a sequel at the time I am writing this.

while I find some parts of the story a little slow I love the result. I did not expect things to go the way they did and find the wait for the audiobook version 100% worth it. I love the way the characters evolved and generally grew as people and the new insights into the way this world works. 10/10

Jonas kills people...with his mind. He reaches out, focuses for a moment, and feels a snap of pain between his eyes. Then his target falls over dead: a hole in the center of their brains. The cause of death is unknown to all aside from Jonas, and his lone companion, Bubbles, a sarcastic AI with aspirations to be more human, or a serial killer. One of the two. Maybe both. Jonas calls his ability...mind bullet.

Revisado: 01-03-22
this is one of few audiobooks that I regret wasting a credit on, the summary sounded cool so I got it. little did I know that I am very much not the target audience, all the jokes as far as I got were stupid, the twists were all predictable and not due to clever foreshadowing, the AI companion is just a shitty character, and it feels more like a poorly written action movie based on what the title might be about. I was able to appreciate some of the references but if you're looking to be entertained rather than irritated look elsewhere.

Historia
The world of Pravahs suffered from a time of darkness and genocide at their hands. These demon-instructed magi turned the skies black, led an army of the living dead and demons in a global conquest, and left miles of burned earth in their hellfire assaults. Their defeat was nothing short of miraculous. While the land remembers, people forget. The people of the continent of Stratia have dismissed the ancient "Black Decade" as myth, even while their blood runs cold with fear at the mention of the dreaded "Void Hands".

The narration may be a little rough sometimes (ie: occasional repeat words and cheesy delivery) but I find this story to be enthralling. I often caught myself thinking about what might happen next and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
