How did the details get missed?
Revisado: 01-12-24
Being former service, an avid 2nd amendment enthusiast, and most of my friends are either active or former law enforcement so many details off and others missed entirely. No proper terminology in the way of firearms or their capacity/capability, a mountain of BS about killing a pair of killers by herself (given the total lack of experience leading to that recap) poor and improbable character development. I will try and finish after 10 chapters, but I’m not impressed. This has to be a coauthor’s book, I don’t believe that D Koontz would miss so many important details that avid readers wouldn’t. This is a feminist perspective with a tilt and agenda, spare me your nonsense and tell a proper tale!

Underlying message I perceived was integrity
Revisado: 11-28-23
It was a good read, though I’ll admit I wasn’t sure if it would be for the first several chapters until characters had been established. The twist was only slightly expected only because the amount of time left. Overall a pretty good book.

Awful narration
Revisado: 01-13-23
As stated by another review the story is quite good, however all the I said, she said implied contextual is overdone to Nth degree. The narrator was trying to overdo it as though he was a voice actor, rather than altering his inflection and fake accent. The narrator assumed the protagonist was a deep voiced idiot macho type, rather than a refined intellectual. In short good book ruined by atrocious narration and novice level author overstating obvious with little understanding or research of clandestine operations.

Historia
The victims are all found face-down in the murky waters of the creek that runs through Cherokee Pointe, Tennessee. They are naked, except for the black satin ribbon tied around their necks. And each murdered woman shares a single characteristic... they are all redheads... Socialite Reve Sorrell has come to Cherokee Pointe seeking answers about her family history and her shocking connection to wrong-side-of-the-tracks Jazzy Talbot. With their stunning good looks and shining red hair, the two are mirror images of each other—twins abandoned at birth and raised in very different worlds.

Trashy novel
Revisado: 11-22-22
Excuse for the author to write out her fantasies with a “mystery” going on in the background. Awful repetitious writing style, drawing out the book far longer than it should have. I suffered through most of it, not sure why I bothered. Other reviews were correct in their perspective, I should have heeded the warnings.

Character flaws and narrator who wants to be a voice actor
Revisado: 10-21-22
The plot is stretched too far and you can tell when the author wrote himself into a corner only to wriggle out of it with story gaps and inexorable character leaps that contradict previous examples of the character. His “soldiers perspective” shows he knows nothing about military personnel or anything about tactics.
The narrator started out ok then began voice acting to a annoying level to the point it was irritating and over the top. Screaming and yelling is not ok for a narrator.

Author needs to do more research

Really cheesy and difficult to listen through without wanting to correct the terminology. Author is at best trying to appeal to a younger less informed crowd. Cobra? Really!?

Historia
This is the book that dares to show us the military hardware, global upheavals, and raw combat a second Korean War would unleash. How F-16s would blast across the 38th Parallel. How ultra-modern submarines would vie for the seas. And how two armies would turn the snowfields of Asia red with blood. A thundering geopolitical thriller of vast scope, this is Red Phoenix - and a new standard for military/political suspense fiction.

Wanted to like it
Revisado: 07-21-22
The plot though slow to reveal itself fully was pretty good from what I was able to stomach. The literature itself was written rather poorly in my opinion and seems to have researched only half of the military terminology. The narration was terrible, he has little ability to mimic accents. I wanted to like it, but overall performance and unnecessary contexts was too much to overcome.

Holly Ash is good actor. Just one downside: Most of the people she’s acting with have no idea they’re a part of her fiction. One that has been carefully constructed by the secretive company that Holly works for, known as D.O.P.L. Every assignment is a new role, a new name, a completely new self. Her newest role is “Margot” and her newest target: a boy her age named Will Aldrich.

Really bad narration
Revisado: 03-05-22
Plot is ok if not slightly predictable, however after struggling through 3 hrs hoping it would get better the horrible narration was too much to take. Probably an ok quick read while traveling but couldn’t pass muster for audible listeners who are accustomed to well written novels.
