Historia
The first time somebody tried to kill him was an accident. The second time was deliberate. Now Paul Mulchrone finds himself on the run with nobody to turn to except a nurse who has read one-too-many crime novels and a renegade copper with a penchant for violence. Together they must solve one of the most notorious crimes in Irish history. Or else they’ll be history.

Dumb witted and harmless angry and sarcastic
Revisado: 10-24-24
All characters have some dumb witted anger in them. Dialogues filled with sarcasm meant to be funny. The anger is so dumb that it reminds on on the stooges. I am sorry to have wasted time on the book in the hope the story will gradually becomes bearable.

Historia
Until his assassination by US drone strike in January 2020, commander Qassem Soleimani was one of the most powerful men in Iran and the military spearhead for Iranian foreign policy, enacting the wishes of the country's Supreme Leader in the region. A widely popular but also feared maverick operator, he helped to establish the Islamic Republic as a major force in the Middle East, with interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. This was a long way from where he began as a youth, living on the margins in a country ruled by a monarch supported by the United States.

The author seems to be in love with this terrorist
Revisado: 06-20-24
Unfortunately the author who has good knowledge of the IRCG (a terrorist organization as declared by Canadian parliament), is pretty much in love. He spends long passages describing the heroistic actions of this terrorist commander and brushes only briefly over his atrocities inside and outside Iran or his corrupt financial dealings. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that the author has even ties to complicated proxy organizations of IRCG.

Historia
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

Bono tried hard to be James Joyce
Revisado: 12-09-22
I gave Bono 45min to convince me but his pretentious literary style in which he or his ghost writer imitates James Joyce‘s style did not convince me. Too bad I can’t return the book after listening to 45min of it :(

Historia
When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Pretty weak storyline

I couldn’t believe how weak a story it was and so I kept listening in the hope it will turn at some place... it didn’t!

Historia
Not long after her parents' separation, heralded by an awkward scene involving a wet Daily Telegraph and a pan of cold eggs, nine-year-old Lizzie Vogel, her sister and little brother and their now-divorcée mother are packed off to a small, slightly hostile village in the English countryside. Their mother is all alone, only 31 years of age, with three young children and a Labrador. It is no wonder, when you put it like that, that she becomes a menace and a drunk. And a playwright.

I can't laugh about a divorced momwith depression!
Revisado: 07-01-17
What did you like best about Man at the Helm? What did you like least?
The performance is the only part.
What was most disappointing about Nina Stibbe’s story?
It was black humor about a depressed divorced mom with three kids in an unwelcoming, British village of the seventies from the point of view of the second child. Having the experience of living with such a depressed woman with most of the quirks mentioned in this story, I couldn't laugh at all at the story. It even made me sad. Fortunately my kids live with me now and don't have to live the lonely lives of the kids in the story.
Which scene was your favorite?
None
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Nope
Any additional comments?
After two years of audible this is the first time I thought about asking for my money back!

Historia
In the 1960s humans took their first steps away from Earth - and for a time our possibilities in space seemed endless. But in a time of austerity, and in the wake of high-profile disasters like Challenger, that dream has ended. In early 2011 Margaret Lazarus Dean traveled to Cape Canaveral for NASA's last three space shuttle launches in order to bear witness to the end of an era.

The author has been paid by # of words
Revisado: 12-19-15
What would have made Leaving Orbit better?
This book has a thin unimaginative story. Seems like the author has been paid by number of words. She even spends pages describing i75. I am sorry to have purchased this book. I am not sure why she wrote this book, when she doesn't have much to stay.
Would you ever listen to anything by Margaret Lazarus Dean again?
No
What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Lauren Fortgang does an excellent job in putting some live in this thin story.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
Worse book, i read/listened to in 2015
