Piglet as the main character's nickname?

Piglet?
If a character in a book wants a different life the first thing they shed is the nickname from childhood--especially an offensive one. Why did the main character keep the name Piglet? What professional women would use Piglet in a business setting? What man would want to pursue a relationship with a women named Piglet, Cow, Horse, Sheep? And if the character why wants to shed a family and anything else from their background why not the nickname? The author does explain the nickname, but keeps the Big Secret from the reader. Why? Did anyone else think the title of the book was used as a hook for a predictable plot?

Excellent Summary of this complicated case

Like other reviewers, at first, I didn't like the narrator/author's voice. As the pace of the story picked up, his narration fit the material. As far as the pace of the story, the author sets the scene for the events that follow. At first, I was a little annoyed by alk the details, but by the end of the book I realized how important they were to understanding the bizarre religious views that were used as a cover for a few people to commit crimes of greed and lust.

Martin Jarvis is a master as the put upon valet

If you like British books that take the landed gentry down a peg, you will love these books-- as long as Martin Jarvis is the narrator. His dry humor is a great foil for the entitled, clueless, Bertie Wooster.

I didn't know what I didn't know

If all you've read are the headlines, or a brief spot on the TV, you only know the tip of the iceberg of this still inexplicable story. Listen, and you will understand: you don't know what you don't know.

When I started to listen to this book I knew where the plot was going. What kept me listening was some interesting character development, and the fact that the book was well written and the narration was spot on.
