Weir creates a science fiction/science fact story that's fun, grounded, fascinating and intriguing. As in The Martian, he brings complicated science down to layman's level, through the eyes of a quirky, humorous protagonist. It's sci fi as it's never been done before, but here's hoping it'll be done again! The narrator is flawless, the story is wonderful, the characters are believable and relatable and fun, the premise is both fantastic and fascinating. The Hail Mary Project is a perfect book.

This book was transformative. It provided a perspective on marriage that instantly improved my outlook and prospects at a healthy perspective, relationship and, hopefully, marriage. It's not just for married people or singles; everyone should read it.

This book gave a unique and stirring perspective on an amazing historic conflict, showcasing the men and women who fought and led at the front lines.

This was a didactic Women's Lib lecture awkwardly crammed into an unsatisfying, uninspiring story. Somehow it condenses the amazing life of Amelia Earheart into a one-sided sermon on women's rights, the evils of men and the duty of all school children to scorn marriage, homemaking and all traditional values. The dialogue and perspectives of the characters are contrived and forced and condescending. Make no mistake -- this is not a work of fiction, this is a vitriolic, man-hating Women's Studies lecture disguised as a cutesy, unimaginative story.

This should not be marketed as a children's book, as it contains (to say nothing of the questionable dogma) a scene with shockingly profane language. I don't mind profanity when it's appropriate, but this shocked me. It came across as a cheap, lazy way to force the listener to dislike a character as quickly and completely as possible. It is not necessary or appropriate.

The concept was fascinating, the science seemed solid, but the storytelling in the third act was a bit painful. I found most of the characters entirely forgettable, and it was difficult to stay interested in them long enough to finish.

From the first paragraph through the end of the book, Mandy Harvey's story, message and voice captivated me, drew me in, and changed my world for the better.

Mandy is not showy or flamboyant -- she doesn't wow with big words or showy metaphors. Instead, she presents clear and memorable nuggets of truth with the humility, grace and depth that can only come through experience.

If you've ever experienced pain or loss, or know someone who has, this book offers rare answers. Mandy doesn't attempt to answer the "whys", but she provides first-hand insights into the "hows".

I'll be recommending this book -- specifically in audiobook form, as she imbues her own writing with warmth and feeling -- to anyone interested, for a long time to come.

This is like a knock-off, horror fan exclusive, dumbed down and uninteresting version of "Ready Player One". The concept and storyline were very similar, but it was missing the heart and nerdy awkwardness that made "Ready Player One" so much fun. I found the characters uninteresting, the plot twists predictable and the ending blase.

Do yourself a favor. Skip this one and just listen to "Ready Player One".
