Love the Hobbit

I love JRR Tolkien's books, especially this delightfully descriptive book. However, the narrator is rather hard to hear. He lowers his voice at times, so low and quiet that I kept missing his words. His singing was decent, but about half the volume of his speech. Thus, I kept having to back up and put the speaker right to my ear to understand what was being sung.
If you are at all hard of hearing, this narrator is not for you. He's altogether too quiet at times.

Great Story

The story was very fascinating, kept me engrossed from beginning to end. The narrator was a bit of a problem for me though: he would start a sentence very loud, then end in the tiniest whisper. Some very important sections of the book required multiple listenings with the speaker by my ear to hear what he was saying.

Wonderful Story of the French Resistance in WW2

This book held me captive from start to finish. The narrator is good, steady pace and great feeling. I really appreciated the fact that the narrator kept his volume the same throughout the book. Many narrators vary their volume so much that I miss all the quiet sections.
The story is an amazing one, that is well written and just enough detail. This part of WW2 is not often seen: That of a downed airman's view of the French Resistance.

Great Story, Well Written Book

Great story. The narrator does a really good job. This book highlights an often overlooked portion of WW2, and tells a previously unknown story. It does so by telling the tale of a truly great American Hero.
I listen to, and read, many books a month. Unlike many books written by family members, this one is very well written. It also details a truly remarkable life and time period, and some truly remarkable and heroic actions. It is worth your time and credits.

I've read the Harry Potter series several times before listening it. Jim Dale is an excellent narrator, who does a fantastic job with this entire series. This is well worth the listen!
