Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her 18th birthday - to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner...and so is Aiden. If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training" - which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time - she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

Heroine is not much of a heroine
Revisado: 03-10-25
I got bored and irritated with this heroine by this 3rd book, She’s supposed to be a fiery and interesting, loveable character but just seems more and more annoying as the loose cannon she is that just gets her loved ones killed, while having juvenile ideas about right and wrong and justice in a world of 4 castes of beings. And none of the gods vs mortals vs half-breeds makes any sense. It’s taken too long to see if she’s developed into any charm about her and still not seeing much of it.

Historia
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Good, still enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.
Revisado: 01-25-25
Didn’t have as much impact as previous 3 books. It was good in the sense that it seemed like the entire book is laying the foundation for something more exciting in following books(s). Have been waiting for almost a year for this release after discovering this series this past year. Totally didn’t know romance novels have become so interesting and layered and complex, and this series set me off on discovering other great series and authors.

Historia
Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

I eagerly look forward to every mention of Kaladin in these books.
Revisado: 10-26-24
I find Kaladin’s story the most interesting of all the characters. I was hoping he would be more center stage in this book, too, (like the 2nd book) but was disappointed… I’m only reading this series to see how Kaladin develops. I got suckered in by the first book and I really hope the next one has more about him. Kaladin’s really interesting and has become a character I admire and want to hear more of. The male voice actor doing ALL men’s voices in this book is excellent! I like how the voice actor gives a very distinct voice to each male character, so that I really felt each of them come alive.

We're intelligent, hard-working, and unlike alphas and omegas, we're not ruled by our hormones. That's how I've earned the title of Alpha Wrangler. No matter how much testosterone floods a boardroom, I can always rise above it and get the job done. Which wins me the plum job of negotiating one of the biggest mergers in the country. All I need are a couple of signatures, and then I can use my bonus to buy an apartment with Kelvin, my beta assistant and best friend with benefits. All that comes crashing down when I'm triggered by a switch.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Got used to the narrator’s voice after the first book.
Revisado: 06-05-24
Narration is ok but the person narrating doesn’t shift her voice for characters consistently. Sometimes I think she’s one character with her voice but it’s supposed to be another character’s voice. Or she switches once and forgets to switch back and forth. I have to rewind to figure out which character said what. Kinda got used to Violet having this narrator’s voice for the second book now - oh well. I still don’t quite imagine Violet to sound like this when I listened to the first and second book. Imogen sounds accurate. Cat sounds accurate. But Violet sounds too beefy even though she’s supposed to be delicate and breakable - it really didn’t match her character and I found it confusing. This second book had surprising and gripping scenes like the first book. Interesting characters to love. I am still feeling very unsettled from how things turned out by the end. I’d like to find out what happens next in the series.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Teddy Hamilton’s narration is HOT!!
Revisado: 05-27-24
At first, the female narrator made me lose interest. The character seemed crude from the narrator’s voice (even though her character is supposed to be ultra smart and delicate), and I was really starting to regret buying the book and questioning everyone’s 5-star reviews as completely fake. I almost stopped listening to the book entirely. Luckily I hung on and the story really got interesting by the end of the book. The male narrator’s voice describing Xaden’s POV of Violet was so sexy, full of love and lust and adoration. I really enjoyed his part of this book the best.

Historia
Eight months ago, I was a naive, small-town farm girl nursing a shattered heart. Then hotel billionaire Henry Wolf picked me up off the ground (literally), and my entire life changed. Now, I live in a luxurious Manhattan penthouse, and I'm starting my first company while planning a beautiful wedding to the man of my dreams. I knew these first months would bring plenty of drama. I expected the savage media attention surrounding our engagement, and I braced myself for Mama's theatrics about the wedding.

Narrator’s voice off at first
Revisado: 04-25-24
I think the narrator forgot how to speak in Abby’s voice at first (perhaps rusty, if there was a long break between books?) but at some point and by the end, it got back to what I expected of Abby’s character. Definitely wasn’t sure if it was me who noticed it and was hearing things wrong but I noticed another reviewer thought the same thing. Whew! I’m not going crazy. This entire series was such a delight to listen to. The narrator’s different voices and personalities for each character really helped me love each of them, and made me laugh many times. I like that a book like this started as a Christian person starting to see the world outside of all the shaming and restrictions and just really evolves into a confident, sexy and happy person, and that joy and freedom ripples out to her family and friends’ lives, too. Very beautiful and so much fun to listen to while I was doing boring tasks at home like cleaning or picking up.

Historia
Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo - he's just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn't absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

One of the best books I’ve read on minimalism and also mindfulness
Revisado: 09-30-23
I don’t know how others don’t understand this book and the Steve Jobs references. This book has layers upon layers of helpful and insightful points. After reading Kondo’s book, I actually think this book is superior to hers. This author has acquired (through a lot of suffering) the honesty to himself. We see this person having awakened to the actual ability to live in the moment, and now we know it can be achieved the more you strip away so you can truly be present. This was quite eye opening because I’ve read so many books about being present and this book shows you that one very effective way to do it is through the lack of excess or unnecessary material belongings that take up mental space despite you not thinking that it does. This is not only a book about decluttering and minimalism - if you are searching bookshelves on the topic of mindfulness then this is the book you really must read to acquire it if all those other methods and books you’ve tried haven’t clicked.
The one con about this audiobook was the narrator trying to act out different ethnic accents for the quotes. It just sounded odd, having a voice actor style for the quotes at the beginning of chapters. Other than that, the narrator’s emphasis and articulation and tone made the book very engaging. I listened to this book at 1.5 - 1.7 speed which made it sound better, to me.

Not cool for reinforcing QAnon beliefs
Revisado: 09-19-23
How did Amazon even allow this book to be here? It helps to reinforce racist beliefs and conspiracies against Jews. I’m not a Jew and I can see the danger that can be caused by this series. At first the main character is pro-conspiracy, then anti-conspiracy (meaning he writes to negate the beliefs) and then by the end it gives a hook that validates conspiracies again!! It doesn’t help that in real life politics, Trump encouraged conspiracies to help his side. He’s made it so that ie there’s a literal fire, he will convince his followers it is not a literal fire they’re seeing. He made it so his supporters can’t see real things anymore by encouraging conspiracies. He’s even damaged our country to the point where you can’t enjoy books like these and conspiracies in fun because books like this will actually call to these uneducated people who will then proliferate in misinformation. The USA is having a lot of problems right now, and books like this aids in causing more damage and suffering. I am disappointed in Amazon for trying to push this book on me in Audible. I am disappointed that my membership in Audible helped Amazon fund this racist-toned book.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.
