Great voice acting
Revisado: 11-24-24
I really enjoy June Hur’s books, and this is a great one. But my favorite part of this recording is the voice acting— especially the male voice actor. Each character was so different and full of energy. It was a really fun listen!

Two years to the day that Julie went missing, she reappears with no memory of where she’s been or what happened to her. Along with Molly and Mae, their two close friends from college, the women decide to reunite at a remote inn. But the second Elise sees Julie, she knows something is wrong - she’s emaciated, with sallow skin and odd appetites.

Scary!
Revisado: 08-20-23
The pink cover art kept me from checking this out for awhile but the old adage is right… don’t judge a book, etc etc. This book is actually pretty creepy, even gory at times. Really fun read.

Rosalind Thorne has slowly but assuredly gained a reputation as "a useful woman" - by helping respectable women out of some less-than-respectable predicaments. Her latest endeavor is a tragedy waiting to happen. Desperate Margaretta Seymore is with child - and her husband is receiving poisoned pen letters that imply that her condition is the result of an affair with the notorious actor Fletcher Cavendish.

Well researched
Revisado: 07-09-22
I love that there seems to be a bit more research that goes into this series than some other period mysteries. I’ve enjoyed looking up and reading the sources quoted at the beginning of each chapter.
The story and heroine are interesting, and I love a good romantic triangle. My only complaint is that, although the narration is good overall, the old male characters sound a bit like gremlins.

Historia
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?

Problematic
Revisado: 04-19-22
Seriously problematic narrative. I’m not sure which is more cringeworthy… the sexism, the wildly insensitive / callous portrayal of postpartum depression, or the descriptions of the male lead getting boners at inappropriate times.

Historia
Sherman Holmes has officially settled into his new city, and the World's Greatest Detective Agency has opened its doors. While his put-upon partner, Watson, would be happy to keep the jobs as simple as missing pets, when a worried worker with an outlandish tale of ghosts walks in, there's no stopping Sherman from taking the case. Now, the new duo must investigate a local "haunted" tourist site where the scares are going off-script and otherworldly interference is suspected.

Great book, great performance!
Revisado: 01-30-21
This book is hilarious and fun, kind of like Psych crossed with a spy thriller. The actor is also super funny. This series would make a great TV show... maybe Prime Video will think the same thing...

Had Jane Austen lived to complete Sanditon, it would have been as treasured as her other novels. In the half-finished masterpiece, Austen fashions one of her classic heroines: Charlotte Heywood. The surviving fragment also sets the story well on its path as Charlotte begins an adventure to Sanditon where a full cast of characters becomes intertwined in various intrigues.

Austen it ain’t
Revisado: 09-27-20
Performance is great and it’s not the worst story I’ve ever heard, but it’s very clear where Austen’s writing ends. There’s no satire or humor in the additional writing, and it’s very introspective. I think it has more in common with the kind of works Austen satirized than the works she produced.

Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Very exciting and pretty scary too, if you’re already slightly afraid of the wilderness. The voice acting is also great; definitely some nerdy fan favorites, not to mention Terry Gross, who plays herself.
