The accident was tragic, yes. Bloody and horrific and claiming the life of a beautiful young sorority girl. Nicole was a straight-A student from a small town. Sweet-tempered, all-American, a former Girl Scout, and a virgin. But it was an accident. And that was last year. It’s fall again, a new semester, a fresh start.

Unfinished
Revisado: 08-01-12
I somewhat agree with the others when they complain about the author, her voice is annoying, and specifically the voice she did for Josie was awful. But this book is soooo long that after a few hrs I became numb to her weird lilts and odd accent.
The story itself feels so unfinished! I finished this book a few days ago, and it is still bothering me that it wasn't concluded... I don't need authors to always spell out the ending and hand it to me with a pretty pink bow... but in the case of this book she didn't even really end it. There is the huge mystery of the girl dying, or did she die? This is what the entire story is about, but it is never really answered. There are many ppl involved in trying to figure this out, and you get their opinions and conclusions, but nothing is concrete. And in the meantime these sorority girls are ruining the lives of ppl around them, including their profs. And there is this whole thing about virgins who are really sluts, and we all know that guys talk so there is no way that these girls can sleep around like that and still have an entire campus think they are virgins. Its ridiculous. It just droned on and on and on. I only finished it because I wanted to know what happened, but, I'll never know.
Strongly dislike when a book ends without closure. When the ruined lives remain ruined years later. When the "bad guys" never get caught. When the mystery is never solved. It just leaves me feeling empty and unfinished. Bah!

Great Sequel!
Revisado: 07-10-12
What did you love best about Insurgent?
Everything... I loved how it started off right where Divergent left off. I love the relationship between Tris and Four (Tobias), how its not all sunshine and rainbows, but how they are different people who aren't so afraid of being themselves, no matter what that may mean to their relationship. Its a much more realistic relationship than most YA novels. I love the twists and turns and betrayals and unlikely/uneasy alliances..even if I did predict most of them in advance. I loved the big reveal at the end, that I had also predicted. (think "The Village" by M. Night Shyamalan.)
What was one of the most memorable moments of Insurgent?
There isn't any one single thing that comes to mind. I guess most would feel that the most memorable would be finding out who the traitors really are, or the big reveal ending...
What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?
I just LOVE her narration. She puts a lot of inflections into her delivery that really get the emotion of a moment across to the listener.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. But I don't want to give away any spoilers!
Any additional comments?
I'm a 35 yr old woman, and I LOVE these books (Divergent and Insurgent) sooo much! I cannot wait for the third installment - even if it will be the last. The world and characters within the world created here fascinate me and move me. Veronica Roth is very talented and I cannot wait to read her books for many years to come!

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Amazing
Revisado: 07-10-12
Where does Divergent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my favorites!
What did you like best about this story?
I love the dystopian world created here, its fascinating to me how the people are segregated into groups that dislike one another, yet rely on one another for the functioning of their society.
Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin – was your favorite?
Tris. Without a doubt she is the hero. A small girl who see herself as selfish and weak, is probably the most selfless and strong and brave character in the whole book.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I'm not creative enough to come up with one!
Any additional comments?
I just re-listened to this book, since the 2nd book just came out I wanted to refresh my memory of this world created here. I remember loving it the first time I listened to it over a year ago, but forgot just how MUCH I loved it!
Its predictable in many ways, as to how the story will unfold, but it is carried out with so much heart that you can't not love it!

Not your daughters 'Twilight'!
Revisado: 04-30-12
Though these books apparently started out as Twilight fan fiction, they are not intended for the kids! Wow. Loved the book so much, and I will defend it to my death. Is it the most well written book in all of history? Of course not. But the story is good, and the characters lovable, even when they are annoying you.
Everyone has been so focused on narration, which is a KEY element with audio books...but since everyone and their neighbors dog complained about narration sounding 'too young' Random house allegedly "remastered" which is code for deepening her voice. This, in my opinion, made it even worse! At least with the younger sounding voice I could believe she was a young college graduate who has lived a mostly innocent straight and narrow life!! Now with the deepened drawn out "remastered" version its like Ana is a 40 yr old smoker who rides the short bus. Random House failed by doing a "remastered version" instead of just sticking up for their original product, IMHO.
(LUCKILY, I downloaded it with original narration, this is why I gave narration 3 stars, I don't even think I'd give the "remastered version" 1 star!...Not sure I want to download the other 2. I will probably get them on my Kindle.)
I just hope ppl don't see the poor reviews and pass this book up! Listen to the audio sample, if you don't think you can listen to it for 19hrs (or over 60hrs for the whole trilogy) then please go buy the book in print or the eBook version!

Zombies Rule!
Revisado: 04-13-12
Ok, I admit I am a sucker for anything paranormal, especially zombies, vampires, and wereanimals. That being said, I get tired of reading the same story over and over again. That is why this book was so fantastic for me. It is a different twist on your typical zombie lore. It doesn't take place in some futuristic time, or start from some mad scientists lab, or some government born pathogen. It starts in present day, then goes back to the 1960, and moves forward from there. A family is driving through snow on their way home one night and finds a dead girl on the side of the road, in her arms is a baby that the family also believe to be dead. This baby is a zombie, but he learns to breathe in order to make noises and speak, he learns to grown and walk. His adoptive family keeps him such a secret, fearing if anyone knew they had him that he would be destroyed. The story follows Stony's "life" and his adventures. Great story. Occasional lags, but mostly quickly paced.

Another great book by Rachel Vincent
Revisado: 10-22-11
I was upset when the Shifters series ended, so I am pretty happy that Rachel has started a new series for grown ups!
Story is basically about people with supernatural abilities living in the regular world. Of course there are good guys and bad guys and twists and turns and love interests and friendships. I enjoyed this book all the way through. Its not life alteringly fabulous, but it is great entertainment!
The narration was good as well!

Revisado: 06-14-11
This book is simply amazing. Written beautifully... several times I could feel/hear/taste/smell/see everything that was going on. I felt like I was there with Adam. He broke my heart. Mia broke my heart. I listened to this book at work and got really tired of explaining to people WHY I was crying. I cried from sorrow, and joy. I laughed.
I was unsure of this one initially, cause I loved the first one so much. Could it really live up to the original? Absolutely. And seeing it from a different perspective was beyond brilliant!

The End
Revisado: 06-14-11
This series started really strong, but after book 3 I just really felt obligated to finish them all. I am glad this series is over. However, I did enjoy this book more than the last couple. Damen, though Ever loves him, is a horrible character in my opinion. He is controlling and manipulative, not giving Ever any benefit of the doubt, not willing to truly listen to her thoughts and ideas on what they should do to solve the problems that they have created for themselves. When she goes ahead and does what she knows is right, without his blessing, she is triumphant. She has her faults, but she is a smart and strong young woman who perseveres.

The 50 contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner. What’s a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

SNORE!
Revisado: 06-14-11
I made in only 3 hours into this book before turning it off. I made it only about 30 minutes before I started tuning out. It has a great premise, superficial beauty queens stranded on a desert island. But the execution of this was less than good. Yes, it has its funny moments... if you've ever watched the show 'Toddlers and Tiaras" you won't find it that crazy of an idea for one character to have been doing 'Christian Pole Dancing" from the age of, I think 9... but even with the few smiles this book brought to me, I just couldn't get past that 3 hour mark...

No matter how hard I try I cannot get enough Sarah Dessen! Each and every single one of her characters feel real. Each and every book has touched my heart.
Mclean is probably one of my favorite characters though. She is a girl whose parents are divorced, and she is living with her traveling father, staying in each city, and school, just a few months at a time. Each time they land somewhere new she changes her name and reinvents herself. I love the idea of the 'fresh start' she does with each move.
