not bad, but some flaws

overal, it is an enjoyable story, but with a few flaws. first of all, the first time gamer thing felt a bit forced. many things carl didn't know should have been obvious, even for non gamers. so i had some trouble getting through the first chapter.
second, he is supposedly ex military. but honestly, it didn't feel like he was. we keep getting references to his old military life, but from his behaviour i would dout he ever was any part of the military, let alone some elite soldier. it would have been better if that part was left out, in my opinion.
his leadership isn't bad, though he misses some obvious clues.
other than that, i really enjoyed listening to it. the narrator did a great job, and i will be looking forward to the next book.

i loved the story. it had kingdom building, adventuring and an interesting story that kept me listening non stop from beginning to the end.
the narrator also did a great job of making the characters come to live.
so i would recommend it. it has a lot of sexual content in it, but if you open the page of a story called lewd kingdoms and don't expect that...

great novel and narration

another great book in the Benjamin Jamison series. the narration was great, as expected from Guy Williams. the only thing that kept slightly boddering me is the relationship between Taz and Ben. either get together or not, they keep fighting and making up, over and over. not small fights, either. they also keep on making the same mistakes so that it never really works out.
i am glad he finally got to put the murder of his parents behind him as well. personally, i am hoping this will turn in to a harem, lol. all though i dout it.

a nice listen.

i loved the story. there were a few small harry potter elements in it, which was fun. the mc is strong and not afraid of doing what needs to be done. he also didn't keep on disbelieving in the supernatural even with all the obvious evidence, like many do. that really irritates me when i listen to some stories.
the background story is interesting, as is the magic system. seven orders, all representing different types of magic.
the only thing that irritated me was near the end. the mc got stupid, even though before that he was logical. one of his wimmen was being chased by the psy mafia. so what do you do? you let her go alone in to town, of course. oh and her family? obviously the mafia won't target them, right? ughhh.
Nina can also be a bit annoying. it is one thing to be prideful when you can afford to be. but she does it half assed. she doesn't mind stopping her job and living of what the mc saved up until they are out of trouble, but when it comes to buying things she needs she suddenly refuses to use it. than you shouldn't have accepted stopping your job either. just accept his help or don't, but she half assed it and didn't stick to her own decision.
but overal, a great listen. those things irritated me a bit, but i still had fun and binge listened it. the narrator also does a fantastic job of giving each character a different voice.
so in short, listen to it.

old questions answered, new questions created.

arcane dropout 2 is just as good as the first book.
in this sequel to arcane dropout, some of the questions surrounding Zoe, Lee's sister, are answered, but a lot more questions are created instead. we finally get to know what happened to her in the past and why she vanished. also, a link is layed between the dark impulse series and this one. i won't say what new questions are created as that would spoil things a bit to much, but it has something to do with the link between this series and dark impulse.

great story

arcane dropout is a great story. it is about elden, or Lee as he goes by for most of the book, on his quest to find out what happened to his sister. his only clew is the magical university his sister went to before he lost contact with her. elden is a mystic, which means he is able to see and interact with ghosts. he uses this power to pretend, together with a nice beautiful ghost girl, to be a mage and enters the university to see what he can find out about what happened to his sister.
as the book goes on, Lee begins to actually like the university he goes to, and it slowly becomes more complicated than just finding his sister.
the narrator does a great job on this one. every character has an unique voice, and she can also do a brittish accent well.

the orc pirate is a great story, i loved it. the story is about an axe weilding orc warrior sailing the seas and killing all the enemies in his way. i like the fact he also isn't afraid to ask promising people to join his crew, irespective of the reputation they might have.
one thing though, where's the prinses? i feel kinda cheated lol. i finished the entire thing and haven't found a single prinses
narration is also top quality. the narrator is great at doing different voices and accents
