Historia
Seventy baseball seasons ago, on a May afternoon at Yankee Stadium, Joe DiMaggio lined a hard single to left field. It was the quiet beginning to the most resonant baseball achievement of all time. Alongside the story of DiMaggio's dramatic quest, Kennedy deftly examines the peculiar nature of hitting streaks and with an incisive, modern-day perspective gets inside the number itself, as its sheer improbability heightens both the math and the magic of 56 games in a row.

Great story, terrible narrator
Revisado: 05-09-14
Im making it clear now that my bad review has nothing to do with the book itself but with the narrator. Its a shame too because a good narrator would have really brough this story of Joe D to life. I originally bought the kindle version and was about halfway through and saw where they added the audible version with Whispersync. I listened for about 10 minutes and every single second was painful. Something that is very irritating when listening to sports books is when the reader mispronounces names, names of players that any sports fan would know. This narrator constantly butchered the names and read in almost a robot voice. I recommend that whomever selects the reader for a book to get someone that is at least a little knowledge of the sport. I hate when people say "dont buy, dont listen etc.".....like someone is telling me what to do, plus we all have different . So since I dont like that I wont tell anyone to not buy this audio version, but I will say that if I had to do it over again I wouldnt buy it.

I really never could get caught up in this story. It was missing something that MC's previous Mickey books had. The one five star about this book was the narrator, peter Giles. I think he is a very good narrator

Lutz has done it again
Revisado: 09-24-13
If youve ever read or listened to a Lutz book, mainly the Quinn series, you know what you will get stem to stern, every time. With that said, they always hold my attention and when I finish Im always waiting for the next. I love Quinn maybe as good as any of the more popular ficticious detectives/ex detectives runninig around out there in the fiction world. I also like Pearl and Feds, Quinn's partners as they are nice comic relief from time to time with their bickering. And scott brick did another great job here just like always. These two make a great team. 4 out of 5 for me

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Are you serious
Revisado: 09-24-13
King and Will Patton together. Am I dreaminig or is this for real? So many of King's books have been ruined by bad narration(THE CELL for starters) so i was so happy to see Will Patton as the narrator. Patton brings the characters to life just like he does in all his other narrations, mainly in James Lee Burke books, but his performance here is just as good or maybe better. Some free advice today.....If youve never read King but like Patton, I say you will be thanking me later for pushing you towards buying this audiobook. If you hate King but love Will Patton, still get it. I think Patton is sich a great reader that even when I hit the dull times he was able to keep me focused. 5 out of 5 for me all the way around

The killer's depravity is insatiable. What he does to his victims is unthinkable. Homicide detective turned P.I. Frank Quinn has seen this M.O. before. A demented ritual, it's the work of Daniel Danielle - a notorious serial killer who blurs the line between male and female, human and monster. Danielle disappeared ten years ago. Is a copy cat repeating the crimes? Or has Danielle made a deadly return? Either way, this time the killing won't stop....

Coben takes a break from his Bolitar series thank goodness and writes another stand alone. IMO, coben's stand alone books are terrific and this is no different, matter of fact, this may be his best one. Plenty of mystery and twists and turns to keep you into the book the whole way. Scott brick as always does a great job as well. Dont miss this one.

Best of the best
Revisado: 02-09-12
This book is amazing. It has every emotion possible runnin thru it. There are sad times, happy times, fun times and boring times. It really makes you think about your own life and have you done what you want to do and are you living the way you think is the right way to live. The Testament makes you think about all of that. I love Grisham's books as well as many others like Michael Conelly, James Burke......but The Testament just does something to me when I listen to it, it puts me in a transe almost...its that deep to me. If youre looking for a lot of action and suspense this isnt the book for you. However, if you are looking for a book that will make you think about what good you have done and how much better you could be.....this is the book you need to listen to. I have listened to it at least 5 times and I get something different out of it each listen. Frank Muller does his thing, just an amazing reader. Too bad he isnt around any longer. Every book he read was just a touch better with his narration.

MC at his best
Revisado: 12-10-11
Where to start with this one.....this was the best Harry to date imo and maybe the best book Ive read this year. MC has proved once again why he is one of the top 2 or 3 mystery writers out there.
Now for the bad. Something seems to have happened to Len Cariou's voice. He has always done a wonderful job bringing Harry to life. I used to listen to Cariou and think he his Harry Bosch. Although, since the "Overlook" something has changed with his voice. I first noticed it in "Suicide Run". His voice sounded real strained, like he was struggling to get through each line. I chalked it up to being a half a** effort because it was a short story and ignored it. Instead of listening to "Suicide Run" I bought the book because I just couldnt listen to Cariou. Well, I download the "Drop" and sure enough, Cariou's voice is still sounding weird. I dont know what has happened but it is now a challenge to listen to him. If you dont understand what I am saying go listen to "Lost Light" or any of his previous Harry Bosch books and you will hear this difference.
Cant fault MC for Cariou so I give the book a 5 out of 5. But if you have not bought the audio version yet, I suggest you by the print version of this one.

Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Good story, reader struggled
Revisado: 10-27-11
Grisham wrote a pretty good book here. I liked the story and while not his best, still worth the listen. However, I didnt like Dennis Boutsikaris much at all. His tone was pleasant enough but his delivery speed seemed much too quick for my liking. Also, he makes it tough to discern between characters....he makes all of the characters sound alike which makes you really have to concentrate while listening. With Boutsikaris there is no day dreaming and then coming back to Earth and being able to identify which chartcter is talking. I found myself often hitting my 30 second playback.
