Historia
In 1919, Delano, Georgia, appoints its first chief of police. Honest and hardworking, the new chief is puzzled when young men start to disappear. But his investigation is ended by the fatal blast from a shotgun. Delano's second chief-of-police is no hero, yet he is also disturbed by what he sees in the missing-persons bulletins. In 1969, when Delano's third chief takes over, the unsolved disappearances still haunt the police files.

Very Surprising and a GREAT read
Revisado: 07-30-18
This is one part mystery, one part history of the south and one great story. I was really impressed with the narration. Don't let the publication date or the size of the book put you off. It is the best listen I have had all year. It is more than worth the price of admission. At least, next time it is on sale, go for it!

Historia
Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Truth be told, Mac's finances are more than a little shaky. One day Mac is sitting in the famous Green Parrot Bar in Key West, contemplating his life....

It's Not Plumb Island
Revisado: 10-24-17
I really enjoy Mr DeMille and John Corey. I was hoping for another smart-assed hero to say the things I wish I had the nerve to say. Sadly, Mac is not that character.
The relationship with Sara was cloudy and indistinct.
The comedy came from t-shirt slogans found online.
I will preview his next book before buying.

Historia
Adam Griffey is living two lives. By day, he teaches literature. At night, he steals it. Adam is a plagiarist, an expert reader with an eye for great works. He prowls simulated worlds perusing virtual texts, looking for the next big thing. And when he finds it, he memorizes it page by page, line by line, word for word. And then he brings it back to his world, the real world, and he sells it. But what happens when these virtual worlds begin to seem more real than his own? What happens when the people within them mean more to him than flesh and blood?

Enjoyable, Predictable but flawed performance
Revisado: 02-11-15
I was ready for the end. I will listen to more Hugh Howey but not by Mr. Masters. I found it slow and like listening to paint dry and you can imagine how that sounds. And audible the tape hiss throughout the entire story lessened the performance.

Not Death on a High Floor
Revisado: 12-19-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better ending. It smacks of an Agatha Christie ending out of left field without the benefit of Agatha's excellent character and plot.
Has Long Knives turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I will look closely at this author
What about Kate Rudd and Christopher Lane ’s performance did you like?
Mr. Lane is Robert Tarza. Ms. Rudd is a little wooden, but OK
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment! What a lackluster ending to such a promising plot.

Historia
The killer's methods are terrifying. He stalks the basements and underground passageways of New York City. He tattoos his victims' flesh with cryptic messages, using a tattoo gun loaded with poison, resulting in an agonizing, painful death. When a connection is made to the Bone Collector - the serial killer who terrorized New York more than a decade ago - Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are immediately drawn into the case.

Good book so fary, mediocre performance
Revisado: 05-19-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I returned Mr Ballerini and got a copy of Jeff Harding narrating. I enjoyed the story as far as I have progressed.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Sure. Another smart criminal. Another great who done it.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Edoardo Ballerini?
Jeff Harding did it for the UK version and was MUCH better.
Any additional comments?
Great to half way. I will hopefully update the story when I finish the UK version.
