Great story. Magnificently performed Marguerite Gavin!
Revisado: 05-30-24
I've listened The Hollows series several times because of how well written and entertaining the story is and how excellently it's narrated by Marguerite Gavin. Her ability to give clear separation between characters is nothing short of amazing. Too many times I've listened to audio books where the only way you know who's speaking is because the narrator told you the character's name after the line. With Marguerite narration, after initially learning the character's names... you'd know who was speaking because her development of the character's speech patterns and inflections. Kim Harrison and Marguerite Gavin are a perfect 1, 2 combination.

What happens after you've saved the world? Well, if you're Rachel Mariana Morgan, witch-born demon, you quickly discover that something might have gone just a little bit wrong. That the very same acts you and your friends took to forge new powers may have released something bound by the old.

As great as I've come to expect!
Revisado: 08-04-20
Another keeper. I continue to love this series. Not only is it fantastically written... but Marguerite Gavin's continuation of the narration completes the winning formula. although I will admit that something in Marguerite's voice has changed a little. it's more husky and that husky undertone carried across all the characters so the division of the characters voices weren't as clear cut as I'm use to. Rachel's voice wasn't affected too much because I think that's Marguerite's actual speaking voice... but everyone else (Ivy, Trent, Jinx, Glenn, Eden & David) were a little off. especially the silky sexiness of Ivy's voice. and the smooth tone of Trent's. None the less...I can't wait for the next installment in the series and I wouldn't want anyone other than Marguerite to narrate it. they did that once and it was a disaster to my ears.

Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want? But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Fabulous writing and spectacular narration...
Revisado: 06-23-19
This is probably my 4 th time listening to this series. The story is great and very well written. Marguerite Gavin is a stellar example if how a audio book should be narrated by providing excellent character separation. From the smooth vamp sexy voice of Ivy to the more manly characters such as Capt. Eden... you can always tell who's talking without having to hear "Ivy said" or "Glen said". Though there was a narrator switch in the middle of the series that wasn't good because they didn't continue the already established characters and how they pronounced names and such. And her representation of Janx's voice was TOTALLY annoying. I was estatic when they went back to Marguerite. I highly recommend this series!

She's also a witch, one of the many Inderlanders who revealed themselves after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 50 percent of humanity. Witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves: the creatures of dreams and nightmares have lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

Love the story. Story keeps you paying attention until the end. The narrator does an excellent job of giving clear separation of the diverse characters. Being able to tell characters apart without having to say "Rachael said" or "Ivy said" is an amazing asset to an audio book.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Revisado: 03-19-18
The story and underlying inspiration behind the story deeply touched me. as a black man in this world, I have noticed my fair share of injustice and am glad to read a different way of addressing it as the author Tomi Adeyemi has done here. also I love the stellar performance of narration by Bahni Turbin. I followed her her from the book The Hate You Give. Thank you to Tomi & Bahni for giving me hours of wonderful listening and making my long drives home short.
