Life can be hard: your lover cheats on you; you lose a family member; you can’t pay the bills. And it can be great: you’ve had the hottest sex of your life; you get that plum job; you muster the courage to write your novel. Sugar - the once-anonymous online columnist at The Rumpus, now revealed as Cheryl Strayed, author of the best-selling memoir Wild - is the person thousands turn to for advice. Tiny Beautiful Things gathers the best of "Dear Sugar" in one place and includes never-before-published columns and a new introduction by Steve Almond.

Dear Sugar,
I bought my granddaughters each a book for Christmas. When I listened to the audio edition, I laughed, cried, giggled and was totally blown away. Gee Sugar, where were you 50 years ago. I needed you. But now I can share you with my granddaughters. I will add a note. Run to the dark Sweet Peas and SHINE! .,. Grandma Jo

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

A must read
Revisado: 12-30-20
This book is for those who love the Royal family or have watched The Crown. But it is not the Queen or her family that are the main interests in this book., but the ordinary people behind the scenes. I loved the stories of those women who worked so hard and received so little. The book has some very interesting and surprising turns. Heartwarming, sad and even shocking at times. This book rates right up there as one of my favourite listens. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves history.

Historia
Fred Rogers was one of the most radical pacifists of contemporary history. To critics who dared call him “namby-pamby”, Rogers said, “Only people who take the time to see our work can begin to understand the depth of it.” This is the invitation of Peaceful Neighbor, to see and understand Rogers’ convictions and their expression through his program. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, it turns out, is far from sappy, sentimental, and shallow; it’s a sharp political response to a civil and political society poised to kill.

So underwhelmed by this book. I didn't get far and gave up. I thought if a movie was made it had to be good. Poor Mr. Rogers would be ashamed of me. Maybe this just wasn't for me. Really sorry I wasted my time and money on this book.

Not for me.
Revisado: 04-19-20
I struggled to finish this book. I lost the struggle. Guess it just wasn't for me. Not even sure how to describe it. Maybe 2 stars is too much. I hate to not like a book as the author has poured their soul into it but sometimes it just isn't meant for everyone.

Wow! Loved this book. It pulls you in and keeps you there and then slams you at the end. I highly recommend this book. I loved it on audio and it makes me wonder what I would have thought if I was reading it. I am sure I would not put it down just as I non stop listened. A book to remember for a lifetime.
