Historia
In April 2021, an urgent call was placed from a Special Forces operator serving overseas. The message was clear: Get Nezam out of Afghanistan now. Nezam was part of the Afghan National Army’s first group of American-trained commandos; he passed through Fort Bragg’s legendary Q course and served alongside the US Special Forces for over a decade. But Afghanistan’s government and army were on the edge of collapse, and Nezam was receiving threatening texts from the Taliban.

Beyond words....but I have to use a few
Revisado: 03-25-23
I came by this book only after seeing Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Scott Mann on The Shawn Ryan Show You Tube podcast. I added this book to a long list of others. I'm now sorry I didn't listen to it sooner because not only is it an awesome story, but it's a plus that Scott narrated himself.
Though I'm sure all involved wish it didn't have to happen, I'm sure they're happy to know they saved so many. As all this unfolded there was so much more going on. People stopping their lives to get over there and get involved. It goes without saying that every American should be upset with the way the withdrawal was done. I'm just glad there were some that were able to escape.
Well done Scott!

Pretty Close
Revisado: 11-14-21
I'm not much on long winded explanations so I'll keep it short. This book sheds light on several things many people dismiss. Like there is only mythology, not actual giants. If you can't give a definitive answer on how ancient people's did things that we can't duplicate today; then you can't dismiss angels, fallen from heaven to mate with humans. If you believe big bang only then you're living in a state of denial. There are artifacts, and archeological proof. This book explains much of it. It's repetitive, but for good reason. Linear, but repetitive.

America is changing fast. Cities are becoming dangerous. Time to bug out...Security Engineer, Logan Cahill, and a woman who may or may not be his girlfriend, Skylar Madigan, live together, but only because it makes their conspiring that much easier. Logan, like Skylar, is tormented by the notion that time is running out for America. Things are not as they seem, and the lid is about to blow off the whole city, maybe even the country. The question that plagues Logan is the question of when, and how. When does he bug out? How will he survive a total collapse of society?

I have finished the Age of Embers series and loved it! I went straight to this and it's off to a good start. I had recently had thoughts about this very plot. Let's just hope it doesn't happen. Worth the listen for sure.

Rough, but perhaps real.
Revisado: 12-23-20
This book is one of the roughest of its kind. It makes you look into the eyes of a deadly reckoning. It's a kick in the groin, a scary look at what could happen. This is a great listen if you have the will to face it. The characters are well written in, and the plot/s are not out of this world, but definitely entertaining.
I'd like to think my constitution is pretty strong. This book stretched it a bit. However, the reality of a SHTF event will turn many into pulp. The people with an acceptance of the reality around them will see some of what took place in this book. That's going to mean a shifting of their moral perspective. Things won't be righted for many, many decades to come, and the planet's population will be down by over 60%. Books like this will be long forgotten, but for now books like this are a tale of caution.

There are special forces. There are US Navy SEALs. There is the select and secretive group of highly trained operators known as SEAL Team Six or MOB VI as they like to call it. And then there is Justin Sheffield. When it comes to talking about the most experienced, effective, and deadly warriors in the world, Sheffield is part of an exclusive group that can be counted on one hand. This audiobook is uncompromising, raw, violent, and real.

The description of what an 'OS' or Operation Specialist does is completely wrong; however I'm probably only mentioning that because I was one. I went to the exact same school in 1989. That being said I want to thank, and commendThe Senior Chief for his service to our country, his personal sacrifices, and the sacrifices his family made during that service. Good story Senior Chief! It was a mysterious meeting that set life-altering events in motion, and the allure of a new life was too great to walk away from. Savagely Human, Humanly Savage!
Revisado: 12-06-20
Having listened to many action packed books that frame the protagonist as a man bent on defeating his enemies, and saving the world; this one too definitely got my attention. Big difference here is that Jason isn't trying to save the world. Jason is just trying to keep his little piece of the world from crumbling, and that's a much different thing. This book, and the following two that tell the story are believable. Fantastic for sure, but you can relate to the characters that continue through each chapter. The story is fantastical, and very much pushes the edge at times. I would definitely recommend this book, and for that matter the entire series. They did not let me down. After this I only want more!

When Kurt Cobain died by his own hand in April 1994, it was an act of will that typified his short, angry, inspired life. Veteran music journalist Charles R. Cross fuses his intimate knowledge of the Seattle music scene with his deep compassion for his subject in this extraordinary story of artistic brilliance and the pain that extinguished it.

Smells familiar.
Revisado: 10-17-20
My second look into Kurt's life. In the days of Nirvana I had a glimpse only of the 30,000 foot view. In 1989 I bought Bleach, and I was blown away. In 1991 the impression was one of disbelief that they'd evolved to a level many times better than Bleach. Nevermind was a masterpiece in my opinion. Having grown up in the 80's I was exposed to lots of Indy, and underground punk, and Nirvana were the best !
This book reveals a life lived by a person who severely needed lots of love and compassion. Not blaming his parents because after all how can a person predict what they're going to do to their children by their actions. Although I do blame his Mom some. It's just tragic though.

I've followed Mat on social media for a few years now, and this book is true to his form. Using humor everywhere he can, and maybe some places some might think he shouldn't. I'm recommending this book to all my veteran friends; maybe even people who aren't veterans. Thanks for writing the book, and making it funny. Cheers Mat!
