Historia
As the sun rises, a wealthy young woman, Samantha Seabrook, is found drowned in the ornamental fountain of a deserted Cambridge courtyard, the only clue: an antique silver chain wound tightly around her throat. It’s Tara Thorpe’s job to discover what happened to Miss Seabrook. But the case becomes personal when she learns that Samantha had been receiving death threats, rather like the one that landed on Tara’s doorstep the night the woman died. Together with Detective Inspector Garstin Blake, Tara tracks the killer to the dank and dangerous fens on the outskirts of the city.

Historia
On Detective Matt Jones's first night working Homicide in LA, he's called to investigate a particularly violent murder case: a man has been gunned down in a parking lot off Hollywood Boulevard, his bullet-riddled body immediately pegged as the work of a serial robber who has been haunting the Strip for months.

too many words
Revisado: 05-12-16
Sometimes writers think the readers need everything explained and repeated. Let the reader figure it out. Be more subtle. Too many words can spoil the story. TMI Too much information. IMHO

Narrator is not so good - sounds like she is trying to sound like a "shrink". Story is OK but writing could be "tightened up" a bit.

Historia
Former movie star Jenna Hughes left Hollywood for an isolated farm in Oregon to get away from fame. But someone has followed her-an obsessed fan whose letters are personal and deeply disturbing. While Jenna’s already shaken up by what she’s seen on paper, she’d be terrified if she knew what Sheriff Shane Carter is investigating. It’s a shocking case that started with the discovery of a dead woman in the woods.

Historia
Ten years ago, Craig Johnson wrote his first short story, the Hillerman Award-winning "Old Indian Trick". This was one of the earliest appearances of the sheriff who would go on to star in Johnson’s best-selling, award-winning novels and the A&E hit series Longmire. Each Christmas Eve thereafter, fans rejoiced when Johnson sent out a new short story featuring an episode in Walt’s life that doesn’t appear in the novels; over the years, many have asked why they can’t buy the stories in book form.

Wonderful - as are all Craig Johnson's books!!
Revisado: 10-22-14
Craig Johnson's characters all have such interesting qualities that make you want to know more and more about each one. This collection of short stories gives the reader extra tidbits about Walt, Vic, Henry, Dog and others. And George Guidall gives voice to each character that brings a visual picture and further creates interesting people that you want to be friends with. I only wish Craig Johnson would write faster!! And that there could be more writers who could create characters and stories that are so ordinary yet so much beyond that.

As a woman and as a Mom I have a difficult time reading stories where children are bullied or put in jeopardy. Besides the parents are written as bullies also. So I only listened to half the book. It was not suspenseful.

Four bodies, each with a single bullet wound in the back of the head, stacked like cordwood in a weed-choked vacant lot: That's the front-page news facing Carter Ross, investigative reporter with the Newark Eagle-Examiner. Immediately dispatched to the scene, Carter learns that the four victims - an exotic dancer, a drug dealer, a hustler, and a mama's boy - came from different parts of the city and didn't seem to know one another.
