Easy Concept
Revisado: 07-04-21
The author does a good job narrating the book, and it's a good concept, but I think it could have been a 10-minute TED talk. Gets a little repetitive after a while, but I appreciate the suggestions, explanations, and personal challenges provided throughout.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Instagram Quote Material
Revisado: 07-09-20
I don't know where to start. First, I sound like a dumb valley girl, but this was rough to listen to content aside. I read other reviews to see if I was the only one disappointed, and one of the more accurate reviews I saw mentioned that this is, "a book-length, Mom's version of an Instagram "inspirational" meme feed," and that is spot on. It's some soap box, woke, white savior mashup with stories about her mental health and ED struggles to make sure we all know she's not perfect. It just rubbed me the wrong way and reminded me of the Mean Girls mom, "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom." If you want cheesy instagram quotes and need to be told you're currently the equivalent of a cheetah in the cage that is your life and marriage, this is for you. If you don't need someone telling you that, then keep scrolling.

Historia
On October 12, 1972, a plane carrying a team of young rugby players crashed into the remote, snow-peaked Andes. Out of the 45 original passengers and crew, only 16 made it off the mountain alive. For 10 excruciating weeks, they suffered deprivations beyond imagining, confronting nature head-on at its most furious and inhospitable. And to survive, these men and women not only had to keep their faith; they had to make an impossible decision: Should they eat the flesh of their dead friends?

Falls Apart
Revisado: 07-09-20
It was a fascinating story overall with lots of research done to collect numerous perspectives, but it falls apart at the end. The last hour or so focuses entirely on their binge eating and the world's reaction to them resorting to cannibalism. Still a unique story and makes you question what you'd be willing to do to survive.

Historia
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Hurts So Good
Revisado: 05-26-16
What did you love best about Ugly Love?
This book perfectly encapsulates the high that comes from chasing someone that doesn't want to be caught. If you take one more step, you'll be able to reach them. No? Not that step? Maybe one more. One more. One more.
Miles Archer is every boy we've ever cried over because we weren't special enough to change his mind about being with us. He's beautiful, charming, smart, caring, and completely unavailable. He's warned us time and time again that he can't be with us and that he'll only break our heart, but we just don't care. We love on him, swoon for him, cry ourselves to sleep over him, and then get up and do it all over again. One more. One more. Maybe we'll get him this time?
What other book might you compare Ugly Love to and why?
It's hard to compare this book to any others because the storyline is so unique. The main relationship is very similar to Colleen's other books though. They're believable and they suck you in. The banter is always great and you really invest in the characters and their relationships.
Which character – as performed by Grace Grant and Deacon Lee – was your favorite?
I really loved Tate. She's smart, funny, caring, and she's so so real. It's incredibly easy to relate to Tate and her ever-changing feelings for Miles. Rather, her constant feelings for Miles and her ever-changing feelings about her feelings for Miles.. if that makes any sense.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Relationships early in life are always dramatic and emotional, but it's what makes them so unique. It's not every day you get to feel anything in any sort of extreme. You just float through life never overly happy or sad. This book had every emotion on the spectrum and it was nice to experience them again.

Started Promising
Revisado: 05-16-16
I really enjoyed the characters in this story, but it quickly became complicated and spent a little too much time investigating a certain business model and several scientific theories. Overall a good listen, but lots of unnecessary details that don't need to be tracked or followed for the storyline.

On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Incredibly boring
Revisado: 03-07-16
The narrator does a decent job, but the storyline is severely lacking. The main character is repetitive and the cases are anticlimactic. Wouldn't recommend it if you want an action book.

Just get through it
Revisado: 01-21-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Only if they plan on continuing with the series.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It just drags on forever. Too many descriptions. Too many random events.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The different voices really help keep track during long conversations.
Do you think The Fiery Cross needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Eh.. It didn't really end on a cliffhanger.
Any additional comments?
