This is kind of a critique I have for items in the whole series so far.
1) Christian book
2) Each book is written from different character view, mostly. I like that.
3) Sometimes book are fairly exciting, sometimes they're like watching paint dry
4) Most of the violence is not graphic
5) Important, Some of you are suggestible, like I was when young. THESE BOOKS ARE FICTION
6) This was author's choice, of course, but he left out how tumultuous and violent the introduction of Christianity from Rome
7) Every one was a barbarian. Anyone who is different from us is a barbarian. I won't give examples, you already know some
8) The Picts were not blue. They did, however, have multiple tattoos which they died with wode.
9) These are some of the things that I "nit picked" from the books.

I enjoyed the narrators. One I had to put on 1.25 speed, but after that, he was great! I'm a sci-fi/fantasy reader. These books don't really fit in the fantasy catt, but I'm glad I'm reading them. I'm in the middle of Pendragon.

I enjoyed the book, except for a couple of items. Mr. Popkin, you need a different narrator. You gave a fantastic interview, but as for reading the book, not so much.

Mr. Popkin has a pleasant voice, however, his delivery is rather unexceptional, kind of dry. The book needs a new narrator. But it was worth the credit, despite that.

My other problem, is I had a problem learning which person belonged to what family, who worked where, who else was actually a spy, like that. Could have just been my befuddled brain.

My personal opinion is that there are some things in the beginning that could have safely been left out. I would have liked to have seen more about her life as a spy, and how they ultimately caught her, but I think this was just meant to be an overview, not the 30-40 hour book I'd really like lol lol lol

When I read the positive reviews, and the commentary regarding the book, I thought, great, this is just what I'm looking for! Ninety two hours didn't hurt, either. I do find, before you yell at me, that books with lots of positive reviews are usually very good.

One of my gripes about the book is the constant fighting, and death. And the fighting wouldn't be so bad if the situations in which it occurred, or even why it began in the first place were more believable. And some of the things Odin does are just plain weird. But this is just my opinion.

I'm a big girl (66 years) and not a prude. But this author is way to enamoured with the word F*. And if you don't like any descriptions of sex at all, there's a few of those, too. They're mildish, depending on your point of view.

THE NARRATOR was great. I'd love to listen to more sci-fi/fantasy, or a couple of other genres with narrow guidelines, lol.

I'm returning this book 😥

If you liked book one, hated the porn in book two, and are wondering if this book is worth reading, I'll give it a resounding yes. If I can rearrange a quote from another review I found particularly apropos to book two (to humpy humpy, less hunty hunty. Sorry, I don't remember your name), this book has lots of hunty hunty, and, with an hour left, no humpy humpy. There is one "fade to black" scene at this point, though. IDK if there is language, I just have been enjoying the hunty hunty.

Please don't read this if you are looking for a book to pick to pieces (if you are, shame on you), or if you are looking for a 5-6 course meal. It's not that kind of book. It's the book you read when you want to take time away from whatever space operas or heavy magical stuff or intense saving the kingdom kind of thing.

The narrator as always, is excellent. One of the great qualities of her narration, besides all the other ones, is that, when I get caught up in listening, I know a man is speaking. Many female narrators can't do that. Granted, her male repertoire is limited, but so are a few male narrators I've heard.

I loved, loved, loved the narrator. I've listened to Ms Dawson narrate other books, and she never fails to please me. I think I would be happy if she narrated the menu for me ☺ So that's the great.

The good, or okay, depending, is the story, if you can stand listening long enough to pick it out of the...

Oh my dear Lord, I didn't count on the sex, sex, and more sex. I'm not 100% positive what someone else would call it, but a passage or two, or three or maybe... strike me as what I've heard called "soft" porn. So, this is the bugugly.

if the author cut out the sex--oops, it's a short story, sorry--put in some fade to black scenes and treated what is supposed to be romance as if it was actually romance, the book would be 10,000 % better. The F* is actually a welcome addition in this book!

I'm about to read Moseh's Staff. I'm either brave or stupid.

I loved this podcast. I thought it was well written, and the performers were fantastic. This just hit the spot. It is light, humorous, and just generally pokes good fun, not being mean or malicious, at paranormal researchers with, secret gvt. agencies designed to control the paranormal, and the, normal?, people who deal with, and live around, the paranormal.

Even though I describe this as light, there is some killing. But that is to be expected when evil rears it's ugly head.

There were a couple of places where voices were raised that caused my dog to look askance at my Kindle. But she slept through most of it, so it doesn't seem to meet canine approval in my house.

I usually don’t stop a book in midstream, but this one is like listening to paint dry, which, as you can probably imagine, is worse than watching it dry. I even had Alexa increase the speed.

When I read the blurb, I thought it sounded like a good book. But the book is based on an evil king who craves human suffering, and the more the better. And he likes to see and hear about it to the last, bloody, gorey detail. Even in the beginning, he attempts to get his sister to submit to the pyre because she is not "pure".

I might try to read it again when I’ve forgotten what I’ve read this time, but I doubt I’ll forget.

Hi, all, I hope y'all are beginning to have more good days than bad these days 😃

I only give 5 stars to books I think are exceptional. I think this is one of those books.

The plot is an amalgamation of heinous murders, old money and the powerful need to keep the family name untarnished, whatever the cost. There is "love" for the want of a name and money, and true love. There are drugs, laudamum, to name just one, and the courageous young woman with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, who brings this all together.

Tilly, short for Matilda, has the perfect sister. And she helps her cope when her exceptionally strict (abusive) grandmother, starts in on her. Tilly has several severe flaws. One of them being, her father was poor, and his parents, also "poor", both work! Oh my, oh my, I think I'm going to have an attack of the vapors... But, suddenly, Tilly's sister is murdered, and Tilly is alone.

Tilly has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, when she was young, she ravenously studied the dictionary her father bought her, spent inordinately amounts of time in the library, and asked every question under the sun! So, when the police didn't work on her sister's murder, and the one they found before, or the child after, she was well suited to light a fire under their collective rears, and, of course, do a little detecting on her own.

I did not know that this was a YA book until I was looking to see if it has a sequel. I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I grew up in the '60's and early '70's, I married in '75, and watched part of the struggle for women's rights in my own home, and then began to live the struggle. Who knows when it will truly be over?

The reason I say that is because I think this is a great book for the YA. Tilly portrays to people that it is okay to learn, to try new things, even if you think you'll stink. She demonstrates that courage is not always rewarded, but don't stop being courageous. And cleverly woven into story is the difference between fair and foul weather friends.

The narrator has one go to accent. Although she almost carried one Indian accent when they were in India.

He's horrible and rude, I hate him. Oh, I love him so much. He's horrible and I hate him, etc.

I will only love her forever...

There is a decent story in this series, it just has to be teased out from amidst all that other *stuff*

All -in -all, I found the book to be pretty good. This is Kerowyn's back story. Several things are explained, such as when Kerowyn and the Queen's husband were chosen, for two. There are several plot lines, skillfully woven together in this book.

The narrator was not good. Her pronunciation of Shin'a'in, for instance, was stilted, various, and all of them WRONG! Except for Kerowyn, her grandmother and her sword sworn, and a couple of Scottish accents, one nice and heavy, all accents were the same to me. HAVE mercy 😱 But, in all fairness, she has a lovely speaking voice

I think you'll enjoy the book despite the narration. Oh, there is sex in this book, huggy body, kissy face, off with clothes, fade to dark. There's not much sex, though, and it's tastefully written. Now, 🙋
