Historia
With their supplies reclaimed and food enough for the future, the group at Barry's cabin can do more than just scrape by. Between fruitful gardens, great friends, and sturdy fences—not to mention karaoke—life in the zompoc is better than ever. Nothing is perfect, however. Across the country, safe zones are mysteriously going dark, and Oregon's summer weather has turned the forest into a tinderbox. As the unknown danger closes in and smoke begins to fill the sky, the survivors are all too aware of how quickly plans unravel, fences fall, and luck runs out.

the best yet!
Revisado: 07-08-24
I am a fan of this series. I live two blocks from the fairgrounds so it is fun to envision my neighborhood crawling with zombies. I'd be a fan even if I didn't live at ground zero. Both series are well written and compelling. There are plenty of thrills and lots of drama on a solid story. I've read quite a few end of world series and these books are my favorites.
This book is based on our summer of fire a couple years back. The basis is true. When you throw in zombies it hardly makes it more scary. I relived the terror of that summer. Great writing brought it to life.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

This is such a fine collection of stories. My favorite was The Answer Man which was a small masterpiece. These stories are deep and touching.... and sometimes scary. Loved them.

Historia
Amanda and Clay head out to a remote corner of Long Island expecting a vacation: a quiet reprieve from life in New York City, quality time with their teenage son and daughter, and a taste of the good life in the luxurious home they’ve rented for the week. But a late-night knock on the door breaks the spell. Ruth and G. H. are an older couple—it’s their house, and they’ve arrived in a panic. They bring the news that a sudden blackout has swept the city. But in this rural area—with the TV and internet now down, and no cell phone service—it’s hard to know what to believe.

This book should have been edited. So many lines about the peach fuzz on the kids face, their bodies under their swim suits.... pointless descriptions. I think they thought it would bring the story into life but instead... just tedious and boring.

Historia
Whether romantic or platonic, changing relationships prove tricky for Rose, Tom, Clara, and Craig—never mind adapting to the new not-so-normal. Being surrounded by the undead is bad enough, but with a tyrant-in-training running their Safe Zone, it’s that much worse.

Love this series
Revisado: 03-18-22
First off... I live two blocks from the actual fairgrounds so this book really is in my neighborhood.
I am a fan of The Walking Dead and zombie fiction. These books have the action and the gore but are written with a strong female lead and perspective and less of the military macho that manying books of this genre have. Good character development so you really know who is who and are sad when they meet their ends. Can't wait to see where they go next.
PS. I'll be looking for zombies next time i go to Trader Joe's.

For a decade now, the world has known of the existence of the immuno-degenerative and epidermal decomposition virus (strain two). The world governments and several civilian agencies have, so far, managed to keep the unimaginable from happening. They achieved it by keeping the outbreaks under control and preventing a global pandemic.

the worst ever
Revisado: 10-29-21
I like zombie books. But this one starts it with the prolog and the author quoting Donald Trump. It goes down hill fast from there. The story is so poorly written with I guess you'd call them characters of some sort. The reader is one of the worst I've ever heard and I have 1,400 books in my library. I listened to the first part and returned it.

Rose Winter has enough problems. With a marriage going down the tubes and a dreaded anniversary party on the horizon, the last thing she needs is the zombie apocalypse. She wanted to get drunk and sing karaoke, not murder her undead neighbors. It’s clear the party’s over, however, now Rose has more problems - a missing husband, an overbearing houseguest, and keeping her family alive.

Revisado: 02-08-21
I got this as a daily deal because I enjoy the genre and it was set in the northwest where I live. I was more than surprised to find that it was set in my neighborhood! I'll never look out at the fairgrounds in the same way again.
This book has a strong plot with great characters. The story is so much better than your usual gore laden anxt. I would rate this as one of the best zombie books I've read.

Historia
London's Great Plague of 1665 devastated the city, as Europe's final bubonic outbreak killed thousands of helpless citizens. Daniel Defoe, author of the classic Robinson Crusoe, was five years old when the Plague swept through London, and grew up hearing many stories - some truthful, others exaggerated - of its deadly effects. Blending those anecdotes with his childhood recollections and factual data from government registers, Defoe wrote this comprehensive account of what happened to London in 1665.

This book is very relivent to what we find ourselves faced with today. It follows the course of the outbreak of plague through it's path of destruction. Defoe was such a wonderful chronicaler of the events and his ideas on the contagion were wise for them and now.

The IQ series is one of the best I've listened. This second book takes IQ back to explore his brother's murder. The story expands on the fascinating and complex character and the narration is perfection.
