Therese Plummer is a better narrator

The plot was okay. It was a bit slow and clunky as first books tend to be. The romantic pairings for the next two books are set up in this book as well, which is okay. I wish Therese Plummer had narrated again. This story was too hard to follow as the narrator’s range of voices for the characters changed very little and his reading speed was very fast. I would have had better luck following the storyline if I had read the ebook instead.

Not Mehl’s best work

I’ve lived in the Wichita area the majority of my life. Park City, the residence of Dennis Raeder—a real serial killer—is essentially a suburb of Wichita. To me, the likelihood of two serial killers operating within 15 miles of each other in this mid-sized town seemed far fetched, as did a snowstorm in November. When the narrator mispronounced the hospital’s name, I was annoyed. Aside from that, she had very little change in voice to keep me invested in the story. The only reason I finished it was because I wanted to know if I had the plot twist pegged correctly, which I halfway did.

Delightful read!

As a Pride and Prejudice fan, I am cautious of plot lines mimicking Austen’s great work. This is a delightful book that has had me chuckling from Shelby’s antics and wringing my hands at her trials. The narrator is perfect for this wonderful book.

not a clean romantic suspense

I purchased this because I enjoyed the previous trilogy by Mann. she is grouped with other Christian romantic suspense authors I enjoy. The mystery plot was good, but the use of "as hell" as a frequent descriptor and the inclusion of 2 sex scenes soured the story for me. I expected a clean romantic suspense but got a Harlequin novel instead.

Dylan’s Story is not stellar, but solid. Forbes has a pleasant voice, but no differentiation in inflection for different characters. It was very difficult to determine who was speaking, which made following the story line very difficult. This would not be a good road trip listen as it would lull the driver to sleep.

Very different from Her Royal Spyness. This novel is more serious. I enjoyed the look into the behind-the-scenes war wffort. Great narrator. Well worth the listen.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Scott Brick gives a great performance as usual. Cussler and Scott weave legend into a grand adventure for Bell spanning two continents. My favorite of Isaac's cases yet.
