Historia
From the 1920s to 1950, Georgia Tann ran a black-market baby business at the Tennessee Children’s Home Society in Memphis. The publication of Lisa Wingate’s novel Before We Were Yours brought new awareness of Tann’s lucrative career in child trafficking. Adoptees who knew little about their pasts gained insight into the startling facts behind their family histories. Encouraged by their contact with Wingate and award-winning journalist Judy Christie, who documented the stories of 15 adoptees in this book, many determined Tann survivors set out to trace their roots.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 02-01-25
I enjoyed this very much. I loved hearing the adoptees stories and how they came to be in the control of Georgia Tan and how they got out. I was happy to hear of reunions that occurred and sad about some that didn't. The only negative I have to say is that there was too much plugging of "Before We Were Yours." Yes, I know Ms. Wingate wrote the fictional book, but it was referred too way too much.

Lovely, feel good book
Revisado: 01-29-25
I love the renewal of old relationships, the development of new relationships, and the finding of lost loves. Ms. Brunstetter has a lovely way of intertwining her characters with new and old. I also love how she keeps it wholesome without all the worldly aspects of life. My only complaint is that the narrator made me feel like I was either listening to the AI voice from Tik Tok or Miss Eliza Jane Wilder from Little House on the Prairie.

Feeling all the feels
Revisado: 01-23-25
This book got me to feel all the feels. I felt anger with Ernt and what a complete jerk he was. I felt sympathy for Cora because she loved a man who abused her. I felt sad for Leni for having to be in the middle of both her parents as well as her relationship with Matthew. Ms. Hannah once again weaves the non-fiction and fiction together beautifully.

Finally!!!
Revisado: 01-19-25
Finally Stephanie has chosen the groom and I couldn't be more delighted. This story kept me on my toes. It was the right blend of intrigue and comedy. Could there be a funnier character than Lula? I was surprised but not surprised by who Robin Hoodie turned out to be. And I cannot say enough about Ms. King's narrating - she is incredible.

Great story
Revisado: 01-19-25
I absolutely loved the story. I like how while listening I keep finding ways in which certain characters could be the killer - it kept me on my toes. I love how the characters developed and how the story resolved. But, and this is the big one, the narrator is awful. There were times I just had to pause because I couldn't take her voice anymore.

Historia
The New York Times best-selling memoir that inspired the film October Sky, Rocket Boys is a uniquely American memoir - a powerful, luminous story of coming of age at the dawn of the 1960s, of a mother's love and a father's fears, of a group of young men who dreamed of launching rockets into outer space... and who made those dreams come true. Nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award, Homer Hickam's lush, lyrical memoir is a marvelously entertaining chronicle of triumph.

The locals are certain it’s a tragic hunting accident and nothing more, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods, and is soon certain that Jane Neal died at the hands of someone much more sinister than a careless bowhunter.
