Great Story with a Side of Romance

I liked that the plot was not dependent on the two MC’s falling in love. That’s just a happy side plot.

Great Story Line

This was wonderfully unexpected. The story line continues from the first book and doesn’t disappoint! There were just as many twists and turns as the first book.

The only disappointment is the tension between characters that somehow dissipates without anyone actually dealing with any of the traumatic events that occur. This could have been better developed.

No smut! Just a great story with a little romance.

Great Start to a Great Trilogy

Out of the three books of this trilogy, this was the best. Great plot, full of twists ands turns. The ending was a shocker!

Not quite enemies to lovers, as his attraction was obvious from the beginning and it was clear they would end up together. No smut! Just a great story with a little romance.

Great Ending

This was a great end to a fantastic trilogy! Lots of twists and turns. No smut! Just great story with a sweet romance that didn’t detract from the plot. The protagonist focused on what was most important.

The only thing that was off was the fact that nobody deals with their trauma. They all act like nothing ever happened. That part of the plot could have been better developed.

Great story and great narration

Rick Riordan has always been one of my favorite authors, but it’s not easy finding an audiobook that delivers his stories with his attention to detail and humor. I’ve skipped many audiobooks because I couldn’t stand listening to the narration. Robby Daymond delivered a performance that was delightfully charismatic and charming. I hope he is the narrator for the next 4 books.

Too lengthy and Anticlimactic

I was excited about the Lord of the Rings type adventure. However, even at 1.5x the speed, it still took too long to get through. I’m not sure if it was the lengthy, drawn-out descriptions, the scenes that never seemed to end, or the snooze worthy narration that made this story an epic bore. I was excited when I finally got to the chapter with the dragon, but I should have know by where the chapter fell in the book that the battle was going to be a huge let down. I finally got tired and skipped to the end just to be done with it.

Good read!

This is the second book in this series I've listened to. I was a little concerned starting out that I wouldn't be able to finish it because of the narrator (he's not bad, I'm just used to a different voice actor). Swanson did a good job. His voice added to the excitement of the story and his acting was really good. His voices were consistent and I could always tell who was talking. The only reason I have this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the length and pace. This story seemed to drag on. I like details, but there's something to be said for getting to the point. Other than that, so far this has been a good series. I can't wait to share it with my son.
