Cozy Small Town Romance!
Revisado: 08-24-24
I have a real soft spot for these kinds of romance books! They are a cozy little vacation! I will always love a good small town new girl romance with a wacky set of side characters who make you feel like you are part of this little community.
Molly Harper is one of my all-time favorite authors! Her works follow the tried and true formula for a good solid romance while also concentrating on our characters. I don't know how she keeps making new characters who we just end up loving right away. She's a mastermind who wields her awesome powers for warm, fuzzy feelings and will leave you wanting to read the next book right away.

Good Bookclub pick!
Revisado: 10-07-23
I have always loved mythology, so this was a special treat for me. If you love books with lots of tie-ins of famous myths and heroes, you will enjoy this book a lot. I've read it 3 times now and enjoyed it every single time. For a book club book, it had a lot to discuss! I also think that as a book club book, it has a little of something for everyone.
Part of a series or Standalone: Standalone
Genre: Fantasy Fiction, Historical Fiction
Tropes: Unreliable Narrator, Not Like Other Gods, I Can Save Him, Showing Off the Research, Exotic/Mythical Locations, The MacGuffin, Side Quest destination.
Things I liked: We get to see Circe grow up and learn hard lessons. She gets almost no direction, which is also her own fault, but she still comes out strong every time. There's a good amount of character growth as well as some hard questions that are brought up.
Things I disliked: The pacing, especially at the end, was awful. Lots of good/deep philosophical questions were set up but not answered at the end. I'm also not a fan of endings where you have to assume that. that's what really ended up happening. I always want to see the story through rather than give a glimpse of something that could happen and probably did, but without the proof, it's just conjecture.
Audiobook or Physical? I've listened and read the physical book twice now! Both provide an amazing experience. I do really love Perdita Weeks as the voice of Circe!
Extras: Circe's POV, This was a Book Detectives book club pick in 2023 (picked by our own Detective Angst)

Who's the real monsters
Revisado: 05-18-23
If you like fantasy with vampires, this is a really good read. There's lots of drama as these people try to survive both the eternal winter and themselves. The full cast and music really added to the experience of the story.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Intense!
Revisado: 04-13-23
This is kinda a slow starter, but it sets up everything that will take place later and really sets the stakes higher since we know the characters so well by that point. I like King's books that deal with more relevant horrors. If people had special abilities, they would fear discovery. They would be seen as a threat by some and even eliminated by others.

A hilarious new middle grade novel from beloved and best-selling author Gordon Korman about what happens when the worst class of kids in school is paired with the worst teacher. The Unteachables never thought they’d find a teacher who had a worse attitude than they did. And Mr. Kermit never thought he would actually care about teaching again. Over the course of a school year, though, room 117 will experience mayhem, destruction - and maybe even a shot at redemption.

I loved this so much! There's SO many characters we get the story from all kinds of perspectives, and it really does add to the narrative! It's truly heartwarming the difference it makes when someone cares just a little bit about another person.

Ah this series is so amazing!
Revisado: 03-11-23
Every single character that Molly added truly added so much to the series! All together, the full team in Mystic Bayou will change the world for the better. I do wish there were more books coming out, but this one does wrap things up pretty well. I'm glad everyone was able to find their happy ending! Alex and Eva were two great characters who probably had the hardest time coming to terms with their self worth. It's a beautiful way to end a series with a human falling for a woman who's basically a superhero!

I read this with my bookclub! It was so good it was really hard for all of us to stop reading for discussions. There were alot of parts that were uncomfortable but those parts were so important and real. These things happen to people and sometimes the people these things happen to aren't so lucky. If you like mystery thrillers this is a really good one.

This was a really vivid way to explore how you should accept people as they are. An excellent message delivered in a very unique way. Listening to the audiobook is a must since the voice actors do an amazing job of adding to the imagery provided by the story. This is a really good piece of erotica!

Um. Um. Um. Are you reading this? If you are, I need your help. I was at a party; I was running; I fell. And get this - this is the part you'll never believe - I fell down a rabbit hole. Like Alice in those old books. Except in those books, there wasn't blood everywhere. In those books, the characters weren't all male, attractive, and interested in me.

Very interesting and hot
Revisado: 12-29-22
There's an amazing amount of story and lore for this series. I really like how it adds to the erotic aspects of this book. All the characters have very distinct personalities. The plot itself is compelling and makes it so you can't put the book down and you have to pick up the next ones in the series. If you like Alice in Wonderland themes then this one does have quite a few!

Most of this book is set up for the rest of the series. It's a very slow start but once you have been listening to all the characters get introduced you end up being very invested in the outcomes of their fates.
