A deeply fascinating and riveting weave of the history and life of a truly remarkable woman, and the history of her time into the (for me) very recent past. This telling painted the nuisances of her life, her impact across diverse times, social movements, political landscapes, and historical events, in layers of interesting history…and the people at the center of those times. This book is not cumbersome, even in light of its length. It is a bright, active, energetic and at times humorous, fast-paced and deeply engaging telling of a woman who truly lived life to the fullest, and beyond…and the history that surrounded, inspired, and in the end failed to limit her.

This course is extremely helpful in describing the nuisances of the many cultures and customs throughout the world. I’ve been lucky enough to visit, and live in, many of the countries mentioned throughout this course. As I listened to both the familiar and new (to me) information and insights I couldn’t help think of how valuable this course could have been to me before my travels.
