Historia
Since the Clan Invasion of 3050 ended in failure, there have been those who have not forgotten Nicholas Kerensky’s ultimate goal: The conquering of Terra, and the rise of one clan above all others…to become the ilClan, and rule over both the rest of the Clans and the Inner Sphere…regardless of what the Great Houses may say about it…

Fanfiction level writing read by excellent voice actors
Revisado: 03-24-25
I hate to say it, but the plotline in this book is just bad. Everything the Republic does is ineffectual, and Devlin Stone is incapable of doing anything right. The first half of the book had me cringing almost the entire time. It is written from the perspective of totalitarian aggressors from a backwards violence based society, and the author tries to make you emphasize with them. The dialogue is pretty poor as well, and none of the characters are particularly interesting. Alaric Ward is an obvious Mary Sue, and is singularly unlikable for how much the author tries to make you like him. All of his supporting characters are various tropes, from strong and deadly red haired lady who doesn't take crap, to second strong and deadly red haired lady who doesn't take crap (seriously. there are two of them), and other assorted tropes. This book is a clumsy reboot to the battletech universe. personally, it is several hours and an audible credit I won't get back.
The one redeeming feature is the description of mech based combat. It was ok to listen to, and fairly well described.

Ties that bind...Danai Liao-Centrella is many things: Solaris gladiator; proud military commander; successful diplomat. All of those roles pale beneath perhaps the heaviest responsibility of anyone in the Capellan Confederation: To speak the truth to its ruler, Chancellor Daoshen Liao. He is the undeniable dictator of hundreds of worlds. Mighty armies move at his command. Billions of lives hang on his every decision. Against that, she must speak the truth. And the truth is, the war with House Davion must end. Because there is a greater danger looming.

Acceptable Foray into Battletech
Revisado: 03-02-25
It was a fun book overall; written from the perspective of arguably the "bad guys" as they invade and conquer planets. The main character had growth, and reasonable believability.
the voice acting was really quite good for a battletech novel; which I was very happy about.
There was no resolution to the novel, however. It just sort of ended. Also, many of the plotlines throughout were unresolved and unexplained.

The Color of Compromise takes listeners on a historical journey: from America's early colonial days through slavery and the Civil War, covering the tragedy of Jim Crow laws and the victories of the Civil Rights era, to today's Black Lives Matter movement. Author Jemar Tisby reveals the obvious - and the far more subtle - ways the American church has compromised what the Bible teaches about human dignity and equality.

Good
Revisado: 11-21-22
This book gave me an overview of a history I didn't know. Some of the latter portion of the book was a bit preachy, and the author seemed to talk out of both sides of their mouth when it came to communal guilt; very much a "if you aren't with me, you are against me" approach. But there is still a lot of good perspective to be found in the book, and it presents a very clear picture of the evils caused by compromising faith for convenience. I reccomend this book to anyone from the USA, or those that would like to understand the important history of systemic racism with the Christian church.

Historia
The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. Now, the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune's power, have colonized a green world—and are tuning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. Chapterhouse Dune is the last book Frank Herbert wrote before his death: A stunning climax to the epic Dune legend that will live on forever.

Slow and odd start
Revisado: 11-07-21
Old Frank Herbert is getting a little weird in this one, especially near the beginning. There are some odd sexual themes that came off as more odd that interesting, but some of the world building was good. The performance was as good as usual, however.

Okay dune book
Revisado: 09-27-21
This dune book has some really good character setup, and it seems to be preparing for some cool stuff in later books. the later part of the book got really cool, but was marred with cringy sex content. not sure what the author is getting at here, but that could have been left out.

amazing book and series
Revisado: 10-25-19
Eisenhorn is an amazing series, and this is a solid conclusion. Game of thrones doesn't have anything on the sad character deaths in this series. Poor Gregor.

Epic character story
Revisado: 09-30-19
After this book, Cawl is my new favorite character in the 40k universe. The narration for everything was solid, except for the various use of 'bang.' Stort-wise it worked great, but it did sound a bit awkward.
