Good story but would rather have a real narrator.
Revisado: 07-28-24
Not crazy about the virtual voice. Mispronunciation of some of the words and some inflection was odd.

I hated the ending.

He didn't talk about other races he was in, he just ended the book. Needed more explanation.

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

Loved all the information
Revisado: 06-29-19
Learned a lot listening to this book. Appauling how our government treated our missing solders. Good thing the families press on to find their loved ones, even if it is 70 years later.
The story doesn't need some of the background noise to make it real.

Good story
Revisado: 02-23-19
There were times when I couldn't figure out who was talking or what was happening. You would hear a gasp and then no explanation. It's not like TV where you see what happened, you just had to guess. You would hear 2 women or men talking but didn't know who they were for awhile. I hated the music in between the chapters, it took away from the story.

Historia
You’ve heard of an Essex Girl or even a Chelsea Girl, but what about a Hounslow Girl? Definition of a Hounslow Girl: a young Muslim woman who wears hooped earrings with her headscarf and grapples with traditional values while hustling her way through urban London. The Diary of a Hounslow Girl is a bold and provocative one-person play, written and performed by Ambreen Razia. From the joys of traditional Pakistani weddings to fights on the night bus, this is a comic story of dreams, aspirations and coming of age, told through the eyes of a 16-year-old British Muslim girl.
