Historia
Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

I pulled my grades up by one full letter grade in three classes from Bs to As because of what I learned. I listen to it in my car back and forth between school and home. What I learned was invaluable. The most important aspect of this audio book is that it teaches you to understand everything from the professor's perspective and tells you very, very explicity what the prof is looking for when he grades. Lots of other tips too, how to write papers in a way the professor wants, how to approach note taking from the professor's point of view, and so on. I truly recommend this book to anyone.

My professor is excellent. She covers all the material she expects you to know in lecture, but in sociology it's easy to get terms mixed-up with one another and, in this text in particular, the chapters can be VERY long. I suggest buying this audiocompanion for two reasons: 1) You can listen to it while driving, become familiar with the material (even before you start the chapter in class), and when you do get a chance to read, you're "reviewing;" and 2) At the end of each section there are three quizzes of 10 questions each which helps to immediately reenforce the material you just heard.
The chapters do not cover all of the material in the book by a long shot. The chapters in this audiobook are almost like a highlight of the end of chapter review section, that should inform you as to how condensed the material is, but many critical key concepts are covered and the quizzes at the end of each chapter cover material from the text that wasn't in the reading, so it's helpful in that respect as well.
If you want to hang on to that 4.0 (like me!) then I would definately suggest downloading this book.

Excellent Supplement!

This is absolutely no substitute for reading the book or attending the lecture, but for those who struggle with detailed concepts like the Cell Cycle, this supplemental material, along with the CD that came with the text, the lecture, and the book itself, will help to complete the picture.
The narrator, who is also a co-author, uses anaologies to help you better understand cell division, for example. I have a great professor, but this really helped a lot. I recommend it.
