Historia
English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

Too confusing! Too many characters with long names
Revisado: 12-18-12
Would you try another book from Susanna Clarke and/or Simon Prebble?
Maybe, but I might try reading it on paper instead. I was really confused by all the characters, historical notes and sub plots in this story. I kept having to rewind to review who was who, and what the back history was for each sub plot. This was tough to do on an ipod!

Well-written, well-narrated!
Revisado: 12-18-12
What made the experience of listening to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay the most enjoyable?
The narrator did an excellent job of using different accents and voices to differentiate the characters. The accents were believable, as were the voices, whether they be the hardened Czech man who returns from war, to the young 12 year old boy, to his sweet mother.

too long and boring
Revisado: 12-18-12
Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
for one, they didn't pronounce ao mame, the lead character(s) name consistently. it seemed a little ridiculous to me that the different characters each said her name differently.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
somewhat interesting story, but far too drawn out. I got sick of waiting for something to happen around hour 17.
Any additional comments?
lay off the breast descriptions, murakami! save it for a few prime characters, or for when there is a romantic scene. literally, every female in this story has her breast size described in detail.
