A thrilling listen from beginning to end
Revisado: 10-22-24
I loved the direction that this book took. The gradual change in the way I viewed certain characters was so well done that I was rooting for someone I previously felt disdain for.

I never knew i wanted a story about a tax man.
Revisado: 04-01-20
I originally saw dinosaurs and was sold. But there is so much more to this story. Alfred is a lot like me, socially awkward, ultra literal, but capable of learning. What he lacks in fantasy knowledge is made up for in his time travelling partner Nancy. I would recommend this story to just about anyone.

After the events that previously occurred near the northeastern border of the Kingdom, Milton has a lot of work to do. Not only does the Station Core have to hide his dungeon from the rampaging hordes originating from the Quizard Mountains, but he has to find somewhere to put thousands of children who are heading towards his dungeon for safety. If that wasn’t bad enough, Milton also has to find a place for millions of other citizens to live; even though they don’t even know who or what the Station Core is, they are counting on him to keep them safe.

Weird skipping issue with audio
Revisado: 03-02-20
i have not yet finished listening to this audiobook (which i got for free as a review copy) but i have noticed an intermittent issue with audio seeming to go silent, before picking back up. eventually i gave in to checking the text copy and sure enough that silence was seconds of words being skipped. a quick example can be found in chapter 25-1 when narrator is talking about the kids rite if passage. i am otherwise enjoying the audiobook

Always appreciate the compiling of trilogies
Revisado: 02-19-20
It's an especially tedious thing to keep track of book 1, 2 or 3 of a trilogy with audible because there's essentially no playlist function built into the app. Did a book finish? go scroll through your ever increasing library to find the next one. Dawn Chapman is a great author that just compiles their books together as appropriate. I've originally listened to these as a single title each and enjoyed them back when i first got them. While the details are a little fuzzy to me at this point i remember greatly enjoying the story and essentially being at the edge of my seat wanting to hear more. I love Suzanne Barbetta's choice of voices for all the characters

Historia
Somewhere out there, in the great expanse of space and time, exist the Fabled Islands. Nobody knows how or why they exist, only that it is a strange and special place that operates under laws separate from the universe. The Fabled Islands are made up of vast floating continents. They vary in size, with some ranging from the surface area of a small planet to a star. If you look at them from afar, you would find that they are placed in a line. Each island is separated by a vast amount of space, so there is only one way to travel from one island to the next.

I love a good trilogy
Revisado: 01-04-20
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.
It's been awhile since i listened to these 3 books, so forgive me for my review being a bit disjointed.
Maddie gives off very strong "Amanda Carter" vibes from Stargate SG-1. She is a strong female character and one to look up to, But I digress.
Book 1 sees us learning of Maddie and her struggles with money and addiction. Pain potion addiction that is! Maddie gets a job that promises large payment as long as she completes it, but it means working with a "visitor". Maddie often finds herself getting easily attracted to people so she tries to keep herself distanced from the visitor.
Book 2 sees maddie make contact with the dragon like creatures, and she learns that not all is at it seems.
Book 3 sees Maddie racing to save Puatera, and to save the visitor she's grown fond of.
Andrea Parsneau is a good narrator, with clear enunciation of words. She's got a great range and is able to bring emotions out clearly from the text she's reading.

Historia
The Station Core known as Milton has barely survived the first concentrated attack by hostile Proctans, leaving his "dungeon" destroyed and most of his defenders dead. Not the most auspicious start. But now, with the addition of Brint and his inventor friend, Whisp, Milton now has the tools available to turn his dungeon into one that should easily defend against all comers - or at least he hopes so. However, when the Cordpower Company contract the best of the best to find out what happened to their agents, Milton’s dungeon is put to the test.

"Bear with me."
Revisado: 01-04-20
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.
Milton has a horrible naming sense. Like, really, really horrible. But other than that the events of Quizard mountains are a good logical flow from the first book. It left me with some questions about what happened to the other people abducted to be put into the cores though. I hope it's answered in later books.

Historia
The Fortress that the Station Core had constructed was completely destroyed following a particularly brutal attack by superior forces - but they had won, albeit by the skin of their teeth. Unfortunately, the force that had attacked him on his home turf was only a very small portion of those heading inevitably closer to the Kingdom’s border. But will the efforts be enough to save everyone? Only the brave actions of the Proctans - and Milton’s Combat Units, of course - will determine that, as various plans come to fruition as The Kingdom rises.

How to tame your pet Quagon!
Revisado: 01-04-20
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.
Mother $%^&*( Dragons! Oh, so satisfying. Anyways, enough about that. How would you like some of the most adorable gray hound bunny hybrids to ever exist? Cause they are in here too. The book ends on a bit of a down note, but that's ok. The action is good through and through. As stated in my review of book 3, the only real complaint i have in this book is that the names of a character change between books 3 and 4. Can't wait for book 5 to get an audiobook version.

Hints of things to come.
Revisado: 01-04-20
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.
The guardian guild picks back up from the disaster that Brint brought onto Milton by being a curious little cat. Overall I enjoyed the story, and the narration is as usual on point. My only real complaints come from book 3 to book 4 in that a name suddenly changes in book 4. I'm still enjoying Jonathon Brooks varied formula for writing, though i might be seeing a pattern to it now. Either way, it's content is different enough that i can enjoy it without much issue.
