Historia
Caleb Michaels is a 16-year-old champion running back. Other than that his life is pretty normal. But when Caleb starts experiencing mood swings that are out of the ordinary for even a teenager, his life moves beyond "typical". Caleb is an Atypical, an individual with enhanced abilities. Which sounds pretty cool except Caleb's ability is extreme empathy - he feels the emotions of everyone around him. Being an empath in high school would be hard enough, but Caleb's life becomes even more complicated when he keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one of his classmates, Adam.

I love Caleb and Adam even more now!
Revisado: 09-30-19
Ever since I first started listening to The Bright Sessions podcast, I have felt moved by the characters of Caleb and Adam, being a member of the LGBT community myself. Lauren Shippen just has a writing style by which she can masterfully articulate the complexity of thoughts and feelings in a way that makes them easier to understand. Also, James Fouhey and Briggon Snow added to the unforgettable experience of listening to this audiobook with their brilliant narration.
I never realized how much I relate to Adam until listening to this audiobook because his character and background wasn't able to be explained in detail throughout the podcast. Hearing his thoughts and emotions described, including his struggle with depression, made me feel validated and seen for the first time, which is such a beautiful feeling.
I have waited for this book ever since Lauren announced that there would be a book series based on the podcast. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank her, Briggon, James, and all the other people responsible for bringing this novel to life. I love these boys, and this is another story that I will carry in my heart always.

Emmet Washington has never let the world define him, even though he, his boyfriend, Jeremey, and his friends aren't considered "real" adults because of their disabilities. An unforgettable sequel!
Revisado: 06-26-17
This story is about love and the determination to fight for those who are most vulnerable. It is so well crafted that I teared up several times from the beautiful words. I loved this book just as much as Carry the Ocean. Thank you Heidi Cullinan and Iggy Toma for bringing this continuation of Emmet and Jeremey's story to life. As I stated in my review of Carry the Ocean, this series and its characters will always hold a special place in my heart. I highly recommend it!

Such a heart-warming, beautifully written story
Revisado: 06-15-17
Thank you so much to Heidi Cullinan for writing this book and Iggy Toma for the narration that brought these characters to life! I knew from the minute I started listening to the first chapter that I was going to love this series so much.
It's close to my heart because I also live with a permanent disability, cerebral palsy, which I have to learn to manage and adapt to my surroundings every day. Even though Emmet has autism and Jeremey struugles with severe depression, I relate to the types of daily challenges they face. I also have a strong desire to be as independent as possible and one day be in a romantic relationship.
I appreciate that Heidi writes so kindly and thoughtfully about Emmet and Jeremey. She makes a point of saying that they're normal but differently-abled people. I also love how descriptive she is about their inner thoughts so I can understand a bit more about these mental disorders, even though they are different for each person. I especially enjoy the logical way Emmet mind works and that he finds no problem with speaking so matter-of-factly to everyone. It's very funny sometimes while still being a great learning experience; this serves to bring levity into a story about such a serious and important topic.
The Roosevelt series will always be dear to me and forever one of my favorites. Thank you Audible for introducing me to this book! I can't wait to listen to the sequel!

Good story with bad narration
Revisado: 06-24-16
This interesting story was messed up by the cadence of the narrator's voice. Although the moments of dialogue were okay, everything else about the narration could have been improved. If there's a sequel to this story, please choose a different narrator.

I really enjoyed this new journey that Jojo Motes took me on with the characters of Me Before You. Thank you for introducing Lilly as a piece of Will Traynor because he was a great character. Also, I appreciated the character Sam and the choice of Anna Acton as the narrator of this novel. Her voice is just as I imagined Louisa's would be.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life, including boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies, he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door.
