Historia
Come back to a time when manners are everything and rules are made to never be broken. Come back to a time when men are in charge and women do what they are told. Yeah, that never happened. Welcome to Megan Bryce's Regencyland, where ladies with backbone get what they want. Where a woman can thumb her nose at rules and care little for convention, and yet somehow, unexpectedly and most reluctantly, find love.

The narration blocked me
Revisado: 04-26-25
I think the stories are likeable but unfortunately I didn't like the narration. The accent sounded haughty and it was overly done. I couldn't hear the book, only the heavily accented voice, so I gave up.

Historia
Brus Stone can't recall his life before being rescued at the age of five and brought to live with the Northern Watch. Told his mother abandoned him, he's about as willing to give his trust to a woman as he is to hand his sword to his enemy during battle. When he's tasked with accompanying some highlanders through the treacherous lands he helps patrol, he encounters a bonny lass who proves to be as brave as any warrior he's ever met. He's surprised and wary by his pull to her and steels himself against lowering his guard.

Past and present meet
Revisado: 04-22-25
My favorite narrator,Timothy Campbell did a great job with changing his voice for different characters. It doesn't seem like he is reading its so natural, and he has so much feeling. The story is about trust, betrayal and love. My favorite characters were the two main protagonists.

For Laura brought him the gifts of passion, hope, and life - he needed only the courage to reach for it.

Two people overcome complex issues
Revisado: 02-12-25
It was a very complicated story. I liked all the characters, good and bad. I think it told the effect of an abusive relationship well. I was glad the author was able to work the issues out in the end. The narrator did a great job conveying all the nuances in each character.

There are a lot of things Ali Marshal doesn't do: pink anything, a day without chocolate, and Hawk, her sister's ex-husband. Sure, he's a sexy former NHL star who can make her pulse pound with just a wink. But he belonged to Bridget first. And no matter how long she's had a crush on him, how great he's always been to her dad, or that her sister is engaged to someone else now and Ali needs a date to their engagement party, she can't give in to temptation. Can she?

Narrator good, story not
Revisado: 01-29-25
It's too bad I didn't like the story because I thought the narrator was very good with all the voices. I didn't like many of the characters, especially the dad and daughters. Hawk was good and bad. The relationships made no sense to me. I barely got through the book.

Historia
Anna Holley, the third of four sisters, has always felt a little bit forgotten. A family tragedy when she was a child had her retreating deep into shyness, and social anxiety kept her on the fringes of the cozy chaos of the busy vicarage. After several years away from home, Anna returns for Christmas, and an important announcement from her father. As much as she once loved the village, coming back is hard and puts Anna’s social capabilities to the test. Avoiding her sisters’ bossy questions, she heads out to the local pub one night, and meets a handsome stranger nursing a pint.

Unpleasant reading. The female protagonist was a broken woman who went through life with too many issues to count. It was impossible to find an enjoyable scene lasting more than 5 minutes. Wasted hours listening.

Historia
Captain Gibb MacGalloway might adore women, but he does not allow them aboard his ship. Females are too distracting for his crew—and too distracting for him, truth be told. But when his brother, the Duke of Dunscaby, asks him to provide safe passage to Miss Isabella Harcourt, the daughter of an old family friend, Gibb has no choice but to bend his rules. However, it is not until the lass comes aboard that he realizes Miss Harcourt is the lovely wallflower he'd tricked into giving him a wee kiss only the day before.

I loved this book and the narration. I don't rate mediocre books. This was a sweet story where the main protagonists hang on to propriety through many trials and it all pays off in the end.

Unlikeable female protagonist
Revisado: 12-25-24
I liked Jason and that's about it. Hurried through and finally skipped through. I didn't like Erin from the start. She was clueless, self centered and not ready for a relationship from the beginning. I think she was egocentric and didn't really care for either guy. I didn't care for the narration either. She spoke too fast quite often and screwed up a few character voices.

Historia
Aiden Stone is a six-foot-two former Marine with a permanent scowl, dark hair, and dreamy blue eyes. He’s the oldest of the Stone brothers, and his “by the book” family has battled mine for control of our small town for generations. The last thing I should do is sleep with him. Or nearly run him down with my truck. Especially since he's sort-of my new boss.

1 narrator hard to follow
Revisado: 11-26-24
Troy Duran is always a good narrator but unfortunately I gave up on Samantha B after a few chapters. She spoke too fast. Her character voices seemed better but the main voice in telling what's going on was not pleasant. I think the story may be good but I can't finish it on Audible. I would give Troy Duran 5 stars though.

Historia
When Susannah McKittrick leaves Nantucket for the boomtown of Seattle, she is hardly looking to strike it rich; she is headed west to care for a newborn left motherless after Susannah's cousin died. Although the rigorous trip depletes all of her savings, Susannah is certain she is doing the right thing. She is less sure when she meets the infant's father, wealthy businessman Aubrey Fairgrieve - who seems embittered toward love and marriage, and indifferent toward the precious baby Susannah is so eager to care for.

Book and narrator bombed
Revisado: 10-20-24
From the beginning, this story was odd. The narrator was awful, especially with the dialog. I found myself listening because it amazed me how ridiculous it was. Susanna was hard to like. In fact, I never liked her, even to the end. As for Julia, I was too sick of hearing her name. The other characters would have been okay in a different story, because this story really sucked as did the telling of it.
