NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR CAREER is a real playbook. It’s about how work really works and how you can get work to work for you. It’s about thank you notes and thankless tasks, the energy in meetings and energy vampires, how to pick a boss and how to get a boss to pick you. It’s about being all in (but not bringing your whole self to work—some of you is better left at home) and becoming valuable to your workplace. It’s about participating—with your brain, your skills, your experience, and your willingness to pitch in and offer yourself up for something you may not even know how to do yet.

My Sneakers Are On
Revisado: 06-27-24
@Erika relating burnout to the as if regarding running out of gas was not only a fantastic analogy, but in regards to the stressful occasion “entertaining visions of someone either helping you or murdering you”, I have to tell you I’ve never felt more seen than when you wrote that…ha!
Now, back to this book review: Erika’s ‘ultimate playbook for work’ made me laugh more times than I can count (ie: “Walkmans <Google it>”), feel encouraged in the season that I am in professionally, as well as gave me deeper insight “on work from someone in the thick of it”, as she wrote in the Epilogue. Notice that sentence is current; it doesn’t say “who was in the thick of it”.
I like that Erika is (still) a working mother who talks about the grind (🙋♀️), the difficulties, the actual work, the joys, and the capacities (or lack thereof) of oneself and others within the framework of a professional setting as well as outside of work with coworkers.
I knew I liked her from years following @Erika on IG, but when I read her “I wanted to build and create something, not rationalize the existence of something that is no longer relevant” as early as (p.13), it confirmed what I have thought about her for a long time: that Erika is a leader worth emulating.
I actually felt proud of the author (weird because I don’t know her personally) when I read p.75 for implementing her vision and surpassing her goals.
This book is worth the very fast read: insightful, hysterical, challenging, yet supportive.
Highly recommend. Of course, five stars.
PS @Erika Although I am in my mid-thirties, no, I have not seen the breakfast club (reference p. 43) and I embarrassingly admit I had to google “OTSS” “WOAT” & yes even “GTFO” 😩🤦♀️, but no, not “STFU” 😏, I absolutely know what that acronym is.
Anyway, thank you for Nobody Cares About Your Career.
Don’t stop writing.

Stop What You’re Doing & Read This Now. Twice.
Revisado: 05-04-23
Seriously, stop what you’re doing and read this book now annnnnnd then read it again, even if it’s a month later. So very worth the time and the money to invest the best way into your child(ren) and in yourself in the long run.
I am a walking, talking advertisement for this author for both this book, Oh Crap! I Have A Toddler AND for Oh Crap! Poor Training 👏because👏the👏methods/research👏work👏

Start this book even when your kid is ONE to prep for what is ahead in the upcoming year to years+. Trust me, you will not regret it and the results you’ll see/know/gain, you won’t regret either.

ReReading Post One Year of Potty Training
Revisado: 08-18-22
Cannot tell you how crucial it is to follow the authors advise. Although I waited on nighttime training, hence rereading the book (my child is about to turn 34mo), I did start daytime potty training my daughter at 19mo and the blocks suggested work and so many around me waited or told me she was too young including the Montessori school my child attends when at 21mo asked me to re diaper her and I almost flipped, then I pulled out my log which the author told us not to do but it saved my ass and all the time I took for the entire month of June in 2021 to train her. They then believed me that I put in the effort and suggested training panties and we went from there.
I knew my child was ready at 19mo from humming and singing ABC’s/Twinkle Twinkle Little Start AND also sobbing if she were to urinate or poop in the bathtub.
Day four into the first block of 19mo she understood.
I think it took about 5-6 months in when she started to go on her own but it was around 26 months of her life where I was no longer even concerned with her going-no longer on the brain of course before this but at this point I never ever thought about it like Jamie mentions. I refer this book to EVERYONE but it is alarming how many people have little/lack thereof of initiative and discipline within their selves and then loose it/complain when their child acts the way they do. Children follow suit yo-look will within yourself.
Also I love Jamie’s blog post she referred to about Im Pissed and Naming Names she referred in the book. I just read and it and BRAVO.
I’m not looking forward to waking for nighttime training but from following this book last summer and Babywise day one and my child sleep trained by 9wo, I’m getting over myself and doing the hard(er) work now-I know my child can accomplish this with consistency. She’s followed suit thus far with all the methods I’ve put in place by precious experts-why stop now?

Historia
For centuries, the Church has observed the Lord’s Supper as part of corporate worship, instituted by Jesus Himself. But for many Christians today, this tradition can be a confusing ritual. Are we missing something in this ancient sacrament? Beni and Bill Johnson - best-selling authors and senior leaders of Bethel Church in Redding, California - had a miraculous revelation while celebrating communion. In The Power of Communion, they reveal how this sacred practice is an often overlooked opportunity to release God’s power in your life!

A Powerful Shift
Revisado: 07-29-22
I was inspired to read this book after I listened to Johnson’s sermon on July 24th, 2022-you’ll understand why after listening to that sermon if you have not already…
This book has encouraged me to put my faith into action in fresh ways and shifted my mindset in what I thought was a “simple”, ritual “tradition” done only inside of a church building.
The stories, aka testimonies, are incredible, powerful examples of what God can do and is doing in people’s lives.
I took so many notes and have already referred this book to three people in the three days it took me to read it. Looking forward to listening to it again (after writing this review, actually :))
Thank you, Bethel family, for writing this content.

Fantastic Book-Needed A VO Actor Though...
Revisado: 10-30-18
Phenomenal book that was challenging and encouraging that I will keep coming back to year after year for depth and study, but as a listener, I would encourage the author to hire a voice over actor to read his books.
