Child’s book
Revisado: 04-18-25
I love imagery but this felt like such a child’s book. And it’s my least favorite kind of narrator who thinks he is narrating for toddlers and does voices and places meaning and emphasis thereby taking away and intelligent reader’s right to glean their own meaning and interpretation from the book. Definitely would not recommend

Historia
When mystery author D. B. Ziegler is late delivering her book, Abi Schore steps in to help. Surely she can give her favorite author moral support over the holiday break and get the manuscript to her boss at Tea & Sympathy Publishing in time for the new year. When Abi shows up on Ms. Ziegler’s doorstep bearing holiday treats, she’s met by the author’s handsome grandson Dov, who reveals a startling plot twist. His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.

Love the story
Revisado: 11-03-24
As an adult book, the weird voices aren’t necessary. Prefer a reader that doesn’t try to do different voices , male, female, accents etc. It is better to allow the audience to to pull out meaning . The odd voices are quite distracting.

Historia
Eve is a successful novelist who wakes up one day in a hospital bed with no memory of how she got there. Her husband, never far from her side, explains that she has had an operation to remove the large, malignant tumor growing in her brain. As Eve learns to walk, talk, and write again—and as she wrestles with her diagnosis, and how and when to explain it to her beloved children—she begins to recall what’s most important to her: long walks with her husband’s hand clasped firmly around her own, family game nights, and always buying that dress when she sees it.

Not worth the read

This is not a book/story. It is simply an account and certainly worth knowing about but I’d recommend finding something else.

Moving, Important, and compelling
Revisado: 05-08-24
Loved this book so much. In light of our current world struggle with the hate towards the Jews, I felt certain themes of this book were quite timely. At its core, it is a beautiful live story and the lengths that love will go to fulfill its purpose. Love of family, love of friends, love of your community, love of the broken, love of God, and of course the love of your life… all of which are worthy of Hope and endurance.

Of course, I’m not going to murder her in the night. I need my laptop back first. That’s the whole point of making friends with Emily Harper, author of the hugely successful novel Diary of an Octopus. So I could get into her apartment and take back what’s mine. Emily doesn’t know who I really am. She thinks I’m her biggest fan, her new best friend who happens to need a place to stay for a few days. She doesn’t realize the laptop she found—and took—from a busy airport almost two years ago was mine. I don’t care about the laptop, just what's on it: my diary.

The twists kept me listening despite this bizarre reader
Revisado: 02-18-24
I really think this storyline was fresh and interesting but enduring the voices of this reader was painful at best. I ended up speeding it up, which I never do. It was read like someone reading to children, old people’s voices so exaggerated, and the main character’s was unbearable. PLEASE hire readers for adult books that will simply read with a little intonation and passion and remember their audience is adults who don’t need weird voices, and actually like to interpret the story for themselves.

Suspenseful, kept my attention
Revisado: 02-10-24
I really liked this story. Normally, I love the back in time chapter by chapter back and forth but this was a bit rough/clunky, a little too much and not necessary this much especially in back to back chapters. The reader’s whisper reading was annoying but I got use to it eventually. I wish readers understood that folks just want nice straight reading, so that we can infer our own meaning. We don’t want stories interpreted by the person reading. (Autobiographies being the exception)

I really enjoyed this sweet story. Kind of hard to get past a narrator that does weird voices since it’s an adult read.
