Better than I expected
Revisado: 02-13-25
I bought this and sat on it for a while, I was into other topics at the time, but finally came back to it. I don't remember another book that filled in more blanks and answered more questions about life after Stalin than this one. So many loose ends were tied up, I'll be doing this one again. Much of world history is answered by this book and I have always been fascinated by Russian history in particular, especially since not much has happened since 1900 that doesn't involve them. Great book!!

The Civil War is most remembered for the grand battles that have come to define it: Gettysburg, Antietam, Shiloh, among others. However, as bestselling author Patrick K. O’Donnell reveals in The Unvanquished, a vital shadow war raged amid and away from the major battlefields that was in many ways equally consequential to the conflict’s outcome.

fills in a lot of historical gaps
Revisado: 01-23-25
There is so much in this book that fills in gaps in my knowledge. Many things that are tied to other events that I never knew were related. One of the most surprisingly informative books I've ever read. I know I'll listen to this more than once.

Historia
A chance meeting around a safari campfire on the banks of the Mupamadazi River leads to The Last Ivory Hunter: The Saga of Wally Johnson, a grand tale of African adventure by renowned hunting author Peter Hathaway Capstick. Wally Johnson spent half a century in Mozambique hunting white gold—ivory. Most men died at this hazardous trade. He’s the last one able to tell his story.

Historia
A fictional portrayal of an aging revolutionary, this novel is a powerful commentary on the nightmare politics of the troubled 20th century. Born in Hungary in 1905, a defector from the Communist Party in 1938, and then arrested in both Spain and France for his political views, Arthur Koestler writes from a wealth of personal experience.

awesome story
Revisado: 02-09-22
I've been through over 80 historical books on here, but mostly factual events and biographies. I'm so glad I decided to mix it up a bit. Truly captivating story and based on real events. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
