Historia
For decades in America, car racing meant NASCAR, and to a lesser extent IndyCar, with Formula 1—the wealthiest racing league in the world—a distant third. Fast forward to 2023, and F1 has emerged at the front of the pack powered by a passionate yet nascent American fanbase. The F1 juggernaut has arrived, but this checkered flag was far from inevitable.

Great book if you’re new to F1 history.
Revisado: 07-09-24
This book is a great overview of things that have happened along the journey of F1. My criticism of this book is the same for a lot of F1 books. The narrator of the book comes off pompous for the first two chapters, and I would guess they do zero research about how to pronounce the names of people and companies within the book. This particular narration mispronounces half the names in the book.

Great insight and story!

What a great book. Very detailed and still balanced technical knowledge and an interesting story. If you like F1 and have an a little bit of an engineering mindset, you will love this book.

Historia
As the youngest ever British Formula 1 driver, Lando Norris is trailblazing his way through the world of motor racing. After signing as a junior driver for McLaren in 2017, he has since asserted himself as the team's brightest talent and an aspiring world champion. Born to British and Belgian parents and raised in the idylls of south-west of England, Lando's childhood reflects how even the calmest of upbringings can create an adrenaline junkie.

Good book, wrong narrator.
Revisado: 05-24-24
My biggest criticism is not of the book but the narrator. The narrator did a very poor job. Many of the drivers and manufacturers names are pronounced incorrectly, and there are points in the book where his reading sounds like he is trying to sensationalize or make moments sound grandiose. This gives certain sections of the book a pompous feel. The story and background of Lando Norris is very interesting. My only criticism of the book itself is that the book just kind of ends. I acknowledge that in real life there’s not always a super sad ending or super great ending, but Lando Norris‘s career is still very young and he’s not achieved all he can achieve. I think the book feels premature because it’s been released way too early in Lando‘s career.
It would be like writing a book about Michael Jordan and ending the book before his first time going to the NBA finals.

For nearly forty years he has ruthlessly exploited and dominated Formula One motor racing, and now he is setting his sights further afield...This is the true story of Bernie Ecclestone, the street-smart, working-class kid who masterminded the transformation of Formula One from an amateur sport of the fifties into a global billion dollar industry of the 21st century.

The book is good, but this is one of the worst narrations I’ve ever experienced. It’s similar to an auto generated narrator.
Revisado: 07-18-23
This book was very difficult to finish, because the narrator was incredibly boring. The narrator is very monotone. The few voice modulation’s there are sound more like a computer generated voice, because it often doesn’t match the context of the sentence. I would’ve given this book 5 stars if they had chosen a better narrator.
