This book is one word, fun. It is a perfect way to de-stress after a hectic day at work. The characters are funny and quirky; you just like them and want to see what happens to them next. I will be looking for more from this author and hopefully a sequel is in the works.

Hi, how are you? Yes, I am talking to you, the reader of this book's description. Okay, I get it, fourth-wall breaking is overdone. Get over it. This book, Villains Rule, is a fantasy action-comedy which you have to hear. Not because it redefines the genre, far from it. But rather for what it contains. A villain's tale. How often do you get to listen to a story where the villain is the protagonist? No, not an anti-hero, or a brooding monster, nor a hero thinly disguised as a villain. And not evil. If you want evil, take that nonsense to therapy.

J. Kafer has narrated several books of this genre and his first person monologs are not to be missed. Some credit can be given to the author for the fun and quirky story but what truly brings the story alive is the narration. Perfect pick for when you just want turn your brain off and have fun!

A little slow but just enough twists.
Revisado: 07-31-18
If you like quirky, off beat books you will like this one. In it you meet one Johannes Cabal an intelligent obsesive sociopath as he tries to outwit the devil himself. This book is by no means a page turner, you will put this book down as you finish other tasks, but you will pick if back up again. This story meanders about with just enough twists to keep you entertained to the end.

I hung in there thinking it would improve but this story just dragged. The only saving grace for the audiobook is the narrator, but even she couldn't breath life into this story. Give this one a pass.

Historia
St. Louis in 1880 is full of ghosts - mangled soldiers, tortured slaves, the innocent victims of war - and Jacob Tracy can see them all. Ever since Antietam, when he lay delirious among the dead and dying, Trace has been haunted by the country's restless spirits. The curse cost him his family, his calling to the church, and damn near his sanity. He stays out of ghost-populated cities as much as possible these days, guiding wagon trains west with his pragmatic and skeptical partner, Boz.

Where does The Curse of Jacob Tracy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a nice reliably interesting audio-book that will keep readers listening till then end, and a book that I may go back to relisten to in the future. While this book was interesting, it was not an edge of your seat read or one that a listener would stay up all night to finish.
What other book might you compare The Curse of Jacob Tracy to and why?
I think that this book is most comparable to the earlier Dresden Files books/ In both you have an intriguing platform/setting for a paranormal investigation, and protagonists that are both conflicted and slightly jaded with soft spot for helping others.
What does L. J. Ganser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Good pacing and the accent is spot on for the character and setting that one might have trouble envisioning without the narrator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This book is a gem in the rough.
Revisado: 07-24-16
Where does Barrayar rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Probably in the top 20.
What did you like best about this story?
I love how complexly messy things are from the personal to political. LMB doesn't have things just magically work out, and people don't necessarily get a happily ever after. However, Cordelia and Aral remain true to character and don't loose themselves in the roles they have to play, but show strength as true partners trusting each other to do their best. This is a huge strength in LMB's works in my opinion. If for nothing else read this novel for Cordelia's shopping gift to Aral, best Winterfair gift ever!
What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Honestly, I can't picture any other narrator for this series and his voice truly becomes Miles' voice in the later books in all it's manic glory.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The Soltoxin gas aftermath scenes.

Historia
I>Shards of Honor is the novel in which Lois McMaster Bujold introduced the science-fiction world to Barrayar and Aral Vorkosigan, Beta Colony and Cordelia Naismith. From this beginning the author has created a multigenerational saga spanning time as well as space. Bujold is generally recognized as the current exemplar of the character-based science-fiction adventure story.

Read this saga in order starting with this novel
Revisado: 07-24-16
If you could sum up Shards of Honor in three words, what would they be?
This book is a romance story delightfully absent of any bodice-ripping glory. It is a romance for two mature adults who know exactly who they are and love each other for and despite their differences. They know full well that they can be happy apart and that such a future may be easier, but choose to risk their comfortable lives to seek out the life that reclaims both personal and political honor and brings them together.
What did you like best about this story?
I best loved Cordiela and Aral's fits of honesty and shared moments of schadenfreude.
Which scene was your favorite?
Probably the scene where Cordiela snaps and dunks the shrink in the aquarium before fleeing Beta.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Many a time I snorted out loud at Cordelia and Aral's antics , but it was the ending chapter that brought me to tears.
Any additional comments?
Read this series in order. I made the mistake of trying to plunge into the middle and start from there; needless to say, it was a bad idea. There is too much backstory missed.

meh not a good mystery more of a bodice ripper
Revisado: 01-06-16
Would you try another book from J. D. Robb and/or Susan Ericksen?
No in regards to J.D. Robb, but maybe for the narrator. I feel that with better material she would be an acquitted narrator.
What was most disappointing about J. D. Robb’s story?
Too many many detailed sex scenes and not enough plot.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator wasn't half bad, but with the material she had to read she ended up sounding ridiculous.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment as my mother specifically rec'd this series. It seems we have very different scales as to what ranks a good reads.

Historia
The study of sexual physiology has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.
Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country", devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place.

narrative failed to strike a interesting chord.
Revisado: 12-06-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I felt the the topics touched upon were a bit to disorganized and failed to have the amusing character that Mary Roach's book Stiff held.
What could Mary Roach have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
A more organized presentation of topics to improve the narrative would have improved this book dramatically.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Sandra Burr?
Yes she was a decent narrator

Historia
Homicide is always an abomination, but there is something exceptionally disturbing about the victim discovered in a high, lonely place: a corpse with a mouth full of sand, abandoned at a crime scene seemingly devoid of tracks or useful clues. Though it goes against his better judgment, Navajo tribal police lieutenant Joe Leaphorn cannot help but suspect the hand of a supernatural killer.

Slow.
Revisado: 11-28-15
What disappointed you about The Blessing Way?
I normally can deal with slow moving novels, but usually there is something that catches my interest that keeps me going. That something was completely missing from this book.
What was most disappointing about Tony Hillerman’s story?
See above
What didn’t you like about George Guidall’s performance?
I could listen to George read a phone book but even with him reading this novel I had to put it down.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Blessing Way?
I would take out the scene filler as there is way too much of it.
