Historia
It’s been 12 years since the undead hordes swept over the earth, forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day. There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry, and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name. Still, we survive. But for how much longer?

Honestly A Fantastic Series
Revisado: 03-26-23
I started the Gen Z series after completing the original Apocalypse series Mr. Meredith wrote. And while I did enjoy all of the Apocalypse books, Meredith clearly matured as an author and his friend honed skills are on brilliant display here. I cannot wait to get to the end of this series, so I can start the prequel 'Crusade' series.
~To The Family Of Peter Meredith,
Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was quiet literally left speechless when I recently read of his sudden passing last year. I hope the knowledge that his writing has, and will continue to enrich the lives of countless people provides you comfort and solace during this difficult time.
Thank You Peter! You were a truly great author!!
Sincerely,
Alex Hetes

Historia
In Dune: The Heir of Caladan, the climactic novel in the Caladan trilogy by New York Times bestselling authors Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, we step into the shoes of Paul Atreides. A boy not yet a man in years, he is about to enter a world he could never have imagined. The story that began with Duke Leto Atreides's rise to power, then continued with the consequences of Lady Jessica’s betrayal, will now conclude with Paul becoming the leader that he needs to be on the way to his pivotal role as Muad’Dib.

Another Great Addition To The Dune Universe
Revisado: 12-20-22
All around great addition with two caveats:
1.) Authors spent too much time rehashing/reviewing/retelling previous parts of the book; time that would have been better spent addressing:
2.) Despite leading directly into the events of the original Dune, the REASON(s) why Emperor Shadam betrayed his cousin, Duke Leto are even less clear than before. As I drew closer to the end of the story, I kept expecting something to happen that would clarify it, but alas, still no clear explanation, (or even a clear hint) as to why.
other than the above, I throughly enjoyed the book and recommend it to all Dune fans!

It was a day like any other. Except it was our last.... It’s on this day that Pounce discovers that he is, in fact, disposable. Pounce, a styilsh "nannybot" fashioned in the shape of a plush anthropomorphic tiger, has just found a box in the attic. His box. The box he'd arrived in when he was purchased years earlier, and the box in which he'll be discarded when his human charge, eight-year-old Ezra Reinhart, no longer needs a nanny. As Pounce ponders his suddenly uncertain future, the pieces are falling into place for a robot revolution that will eradicate humankind.

GREAT STORY (& for my, "right wing" friends)
Revisado: 08-31-22
A fantastic, gripping retelling of an age old story, closely paralleling our own modern growth (devolution?). The charatcters are rich and empathetic. A must have pre-quel to, "Sea of Rust".
For those commenting in the, "liberal bias" and "propaganda" in this book: Think about the overarching arch of the story folks. Just because some of the main characters and plot devices are commonly modern leftist talking points, doesn't mean this is a pro-leftist book. I mean seriously people, how does the story arch end for God's sake? Certainly NOT in liberal utopia. This isn't some hate spewing fanatic ala Stephem King we're talking about.. In, "Sea of Rust" one of the main characters flat out says the only humans that had AI figured out for what it really was were, "Red Hats". AOC elementary and climate change? How about the overall dismal state of affairs portrayed herein? The obvious and inherently corrupt, even decadent society portrayed by the author? That struck you as pro-leftist propaganda?
My point is, don't perpetuate leftist dogma by categorizing every single thing into political tribal brackets. This is a good, well written story. Take a break from the ceaseless culture wars and allow yourself to enjoy it.

The Muad'Dib's jihad is in full swing. His warrior legions march from victory to victory. But beneath the joy of victory there are dangerous undercurrents. Paul, like nearly every great conqueror, has enemies - those who would betray him to steal the awesome power he commands. Paul himself begins to have doubts: Is the jihad getting out of his control? Has he created anarchy? Has he been betrayed by those he loves and trusts the most? And most of all, he wonders: Am I going mad?

Outstanding On Its Own; Enriches Series.
Revisado: 06-25-21
Fantastic. Simply, fantastic. I highly advise rereading/listening to the entire collection in order. The characters are so much richer and realistic with books like this one, and the Caladan prequel series.

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

LOVE THIS AUDIO BOOK
Revisado: 12-10-20
I know, I know..a lot of folks say this is one of King's weaker efforts. I admit, it is long. But there's something about it, the quirky background music, the tempo; it just grows on you, into your brain, like a tune you can't get out of your head, but one you actually enjoy.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Meh....
Revisado: 10-19-20
TLDR; Fan of previous King stories ARE NOT guaranteed to like this one...
Let me preface this by stating unequivocally that I am a life long King fan. Believe it or not, doesn't matter to me; it's true. "The Gunslinger" was the first and one of the very tee stories that I read straight through in a day. So suffice it to say, I enjoy his writing.
That said.... I've been on a major King revival via audiobooks. I saved, "The Institute" for last, like, save the newest (and must be best?) for last right? Boy oh boy..was I wrong.
This story almost made me feel like it was written by someone else. Boring, just..boring. The narrator was terrible. His southern accents were almost mocking.
Also - What's with the Trump knocks? So played out, PREDICTABLE, sad. Is EVERY artist so devoid of integrity, of GUTS that they can't even avoid cultural kowtowing once? Maybe King is trying to maintain his bonafides, since his books have always been full of unneccessary racial and homophobic character statements and actions?
In summary, new King fans should start with his classics. Old fans should listen to the example and exercise caution when deciding whether or not to purchase..

Historia
In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

It's Still Worth It, Say True.
Revisado: 07-06-20
Although I do not disagree with the many protestations noted here regarding Sia King's narration, it really isn't as bad as claimed. He isn't a professional narrator, but I honestly didn't feel it took away from the story. Sia King can be a little over wordy in his writing, but if your looking at this late addition to the Dark Tower series you're likely already familiar with that, and ok with it as well. If you are a fan, I believe you will be happy with this one as well.
