Factual scientific “who done it & how” - from today back to the 1800.
Revisado: 04-18-25
Given the highly charged topic of repatriation from very powerful institutions, the podcast remained solidly footed in actual events, supporting evidence and first person interviews or correspondence where possible. Yet the emotional through line could be conveyed by those affected & involved in the controversy. Eye opening in how the same transgressions happen again & again, from the current period back through the 1800s. One thinks “currently NOT AGAIN, NOT TODAY”. Alternatively, interviews of champions to protect those who have been forgotten and are among the powerless - and have succeeded in doing so, at no personal gain. Simply uplifting regarding what some have done to keep additional damage from occurring. Podcast is remarkable in clearly identifying how interwoven seemingly unrelated travesties are connected.

Historia
Duchess Day Radley is a 13-year-old self-proclaimed outlaw. Rules are for other people. She is the fierce protector of her five-year-old brother, Robin, and the parent to her mother, Star, a single mom incapable of taking care of herself, let alone her two kids. Walk has never left the coastal California town where he and Star grew up. He may have become the chief of police, but he’s still trying to heal the old wound of having given the testimony that sent his best friend, Vincent King, to prison decades before. And he's in overdrive protecting Duchess and her brother.

Wonderful book….
Revisado: 02-09-25
The writer and narrator pace the book much like a traditional western. You’ll see how that fits on several letters., a story of love, tragedy, greed, murder and the redemptive qualities of love

Historia
The small town of Harrod’s Reach has seen its fair share of the macabre, especially inside the decrepit old train tunnel around which the town was built. After a young boy, Sully Dupree, is injured in the abandoned tunnel and left in a coma, the townspeople are determined to wall it up. Deputy sheriff Beth Gardner is reluctant to buy into the superstitions until she finds two corpses at the tunnel’s entrance, each left with strange calling cards inscribed with old lullabies. Soon after, Sully Dupree briefly awakens from his coma.

Historia
Martin Lorensen is a twenty-three-year-old counselor for disturbed teenagers. He’s bright, compassionate, attractive, and outgoing. He’s also—and this is the most interesting thing—not dead. Martin has improbably survived not one but two deadly disasters that claimed dozens of lives. The kid is riding one hell of a lucky streak. Two federal agents think there is something darker at play. Now that they’ve arranged to interview Martin, they want answers. Martin is ready to share everything he knows. One thing is for certain: when it comes to escaping death, luck doesn’t figure into it at all.

Michael wanted to back out of this trip to the South of France after his wife left him, but his sister and their friends wouldn’t hear of it. His fellow houseguest Rupert isn’t in the mood, either, having recently been widowed. But rather than bonding, Michael is unsettled by Rupert’s constant needling. That and the bug bites are enough to suck the life right out of an idyllic holiday.

Simple core story theme
Revisado: 11-03-24
The story theme is stripped back…does a good job of raising irritation levels. And, the resolution comes fast and is based on the theme. In reviewing it, it’s left me with a bit of a smirky smile

Very different story line vs most today..
Revisado: 07-26-24
Would love to hear another installment. Almost seemed as if it was based on a very old folktale. Key element were left undetermined….leaving the listener to figure out who? What? How? Leaving us with a hint at the end as to what/who was involved, but still no certainty on how it had happened. I lived the fact the listener was not sounded - it was left open for speculation.

Silent sisters a surprise
Revisado: 07-14-24
The meaning of “silent” sisters was a surprise. It’s a story of remarkable resilience of an elder child, raising two younger siblings. Despite their awful living circumstances, I do think the 3 children would up better than if they were sent into foster care, as they remained as their little family group. But, their mother was so mentally ill…you’ll have to read to find out about the silent sisters. But the 3 children seem to have come out of their neglectful living conditions quite well,

Historia
In June 1993, a group of young guerilla filmmakers spent four weeks making Horror Movie, a notorious, disturbing, art-house horror flick. The weird part? Only three of the film’s scenes were ever released to the public, but Horror Movie has nevertheless grown a rabid fanbase. Three decades later, Hollywood is pushing for a big budget reboot.

Unusual approach to horror story

The narration of the filming of horror movie(s) was a terrific was to move the story along. More attention was paid to main characters-their real life & personality. Ending was a complete surprise.
