This was overall a really fun and sweet book. There were some things that annoyed me with how the main protagonist chose to handle things that knocked off a star for me, but even that was done in a way that seemed realistic. I loved the “found family” aspect of this book. It was so cute. I thought the narration was outstanding on this one, and I think it really added to the story and made some characters (Jamie in particular) even more lovable than he might have been in print.

This is a delightful escape, and the performance just makes the story that much better. This is one of the books I turn to when I’m stressed and just need something fun and comforting.

The Brown sister books are such a wonderful escape. Filled with all the wonderful tropes and lack of realism that the best escapist romances have, but with just that little something extra that adds depth and meaning to each one. I really enjoyed every single one. Eve is a lovable mess and I loved her story.

I love books that fully transport you to a time and place, and this did exactly that. The narrator was superb, and really added to the story for me. I loved the multiple points of view, the sisterhood, the examination of relationships through a teen’s eyes. I think “quirky” is a good word for this book. I’ve never read anything like it, and I truly enjoyed every minute of it. I know I’ll be coming back to listen again.

I really adored this book from start to finish. It’s like sitting down with a good friend. While a lot of these ideas weren’t new to me, they were such good reminders, and there are definitely things I want to try for myself. I’m planning on getting a physical copy too, because I think it will be a good one to refer back to.

This book was a fascinating look at the history of how we work, as well as why the ways we’re working now are hurting us. I enjoyed it and will use it to continue deprogramming myself from the Puritan work ethic.

First of all, I loved the creativity of this. Taking a character that we know almost nothing about in the original work and creating a whole story for her is so creative. There was a lot I liked about this book. I think the reason I couldn’t rate it higher, is that it spent soooo much time going into incredibly detailed descriptions of her time in addiction and all the miseries of her life, then once it finally started to lighten up and get good, it was over so quickly. I wish there had been less time spent focusing on the bad times, and her drugged out dreamscapes, and more spent on her healing journey as she rebuilt her life. Also, Elizabeth Bennet is one of my all time favorite literary characters, and she and her family were not cast In a very favorable light in this, so that made me sad, even though I could see why it was done the way it was. The writing is lovely though, and I liked the narration. It’s a very interesting take on the world of Pride and Prejudice. I still think it’s worth checking out if you’re a Jane Austen fan.

If you are a woman who has come out of the evangelical religious system, this explains so much. My sisters and couple of my other female friends who came out of that religion all flew through it. I couldn’t stop listening once I started, because while telling her story, Linda was also telling MY story. I felt so understood, and the realization that the stories I knew from women I grew up with were not a few, isolated instances was both heartbreaking and cathartic. Religious teachings are causing so much suffering for many, many people in America, and more people need to be aware of the harm it’s doing.

This is my second Talia Hibbert book, and they were both so unique and wonderful. I will definitely be checking out more of them. In fact, I preordered the next book in this series after finishing this one. FYI, you don’t need to read the first book in this series. I didn’t, and it stands alone. I love how she deals with mental health issues and other serious topics, but in a way that never drags the story to a halt, it just adds depth. This is a steamy book! Definitely the most graphic sex I’ve read in a book of this type for awhile, so be aware of that if that’s an issue for you. I’m personally fine with it, and I loved what a sexual woman Dani was. She’s a great, well-rounded character.
