Historia
The London Silver Vaults—for well over a century, the largest collection of silver for sale in the world. It has more locks than the Bank of England and more cameras than a celebrity punch-up. Not somewhere you can murder someone and vanish without a trace—only that's what happened. The disappearing act, the reports of a blinding flash of light and memory loss amongst the witnesses all make this a case for Detective Constable Peter Grant and the Special Assessment Unit.

All the books in this series and the narration have been splendid. There is a pleasing depth to the writing that keeps the story interesting. The narration is a delight.

Historia
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

Historia
When a retired police officer is found shot dead in his home, Eve and the team are called to the scene to investigate. It looks as though the dead man committed suicide but Eve smells foul play. Is everything as straightforward as it appears or is there more to it than meets the eye? Could someone have held a grudge and delivered payback in death.

A well-trodden path
Revisado: 09-23-23
Susan Ericksen is always a joy as she brings the familiar “In death” characters to life. Followers of the “in death” story template will enjoy the story. However, I found that it dragged a little in the middle section, but lifted as the usual grilling of the villains while the regular support team looked on was as enjoyable as usual.

Historia
The Gardener Estate is one of the most storied and beloved places on the West Coast: a magnificent house in vast formal grounds, home to a family that shaped California—and fought hard to conceal the turmoil and eccentricities within their walls. And now, just as the turmoil seems buried and the Estate prepares to move into a new future, construction work unearths a grim relic of the estate's history: a skull, hidden away some fifty years ago.

Historia
FBI consultant Amos Decker and his colleague, Alex Jamison, are summoned to the remote North Dakota Badlands when a hunter discovers the remains of a woman out on the Great Plains. She appears to have had a postmortem performed on her, reminiscent of those seen on TV cop shows – but this time, there was no slab, morgue or camera in sight. The reason why Irene Cramer’s murder merits an FBI investigation becomes rapidly clear when key questions surface about the woman’s mysterious past.

Revisado: 08-06-21
I am afraid that this story is so poorly written, with extraordinarily banal dialogue that i could not finish listening and returned it to Audible. I can only imagine that the performers rolled their eyes as the had to speak the dialogue. When there are so many great writers in the Audible catalogue, i don’t want to waste time on this book.

Historia
The Night Hawks, a group of metal detectorists, are searching for buried treasure when they find a body on the beach in North Norfolk. At first Nelson thinks that the dead man might be an asylum seeker but he turns out to be a local boy, Jem Taylor, recently released from prison. Ruth is more interested in the treasure, a hoard of Bronze Age weapons. Nelson at first thinks that Taylor's death is accidental drowning, but a second death suggests murder.

Enjoyably involving next stage in Ruth's life
Revisado: 03-14-21
Elly Griffiths manages, yet again, to weave a satisfyingly involving and complex tale around the life of Dr. Ruth Galloway. I fact, I enjoyed this book even more than the previous one because various candidates for "chief villain" took centre stage as the story unfolded and the uncertainty that that presents to the reader makes the journey hard to put aside for the mundane task of daily life. Jane Mc Dowell gives her usual superb performance as the storyteller.

Historia
When Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, apparently of a heart attack, legendary spy and art restorer Gabriel Allon is quickly summoned to Rome. The Holy Father's loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati, suspects his master was murdered. The Swiss Guard who was standing watch the night of the pope's death is missing. So, too, is the letter the Holy Father was writing during the final hours of his life. A letter that was addressed to an old friend: Gabriel.

Disappointing mixture of plot and polemic
Revisado: 08-09-20
I have enjoyed all of the Gabriel Allon books prior to this one very much indeed. However, in this case, it feels to me as if Daniel Silva has cobbled together a mix of Gabriel Allon's characteristic well-plotted adventures with a ranting political polemic. While I share Mr Silva's rather obvious concern for the rise of Fascist politicians and far-right thugs, I was left with the impression that he felt so a great an urgency to unseat these facists and racists in real life (a goal I applaud) that he mired the plot in an overlong manifesto.

So very long...
Revisado: 03-29-19
I feel that this novel could have been much more appealing. The author sets the romatic adventure in the context of the contested history of visits to continental USA by by various Europeans prior to Columbus. This has the great potential. However, he saw a need to give us an in-depth education on the topic and so it goes on and on with the central characters discussing all of the details in what was to me endless tedium. We get the ideas! Enough already.
There is also a character designed to be sceptical of the history and thus show the great determination of the good guys to keep moving the plot forward. But he is written to be so implacably stupid that his role wears very thin.
There are mysterious bad guys trying to stop the hero and heroin and their assorted helpful incidental characters. That does add some excitement to the story. At least that don't talk as much as the good guys.
An additional problem for me is that Mr Brody's writing includes aspects such as "He laughed. Heh! Heh!". ( I made this example up here on the fly but the example is valid.) When read in an audio performance, it sounds unintentionally comical. Mr Brody, you can say "He laughed." Nothing more. Again, we get the idea.
The performer does his best and, to me, is suprisingly succesful at being a young English woman.
Following on from hearing some of the Elly Griffiths series where the author writes like an angel, 12 hours of the Templars vs Rome feels way to long.

Wonderful creation of relationships

I love these stories but of all the elements that deliver delight, it is the exploration of relationships that creates a sense of awe at the skill expressed in the crafting of the story.
