Historia
The story of poison is the story of power. For centuries, royal families have feared the gut-roiling, vomit-inducing agony of a little something added to their food or wine by an enemy. To avoid poison, they depended on tasters, unicorn horns, and antidotes tested on condemned prisoners. Servants licked the royal family's spoons, tried on their underpants, and tested their chamber pots. Ironically, royals terrified of poison were unknowingly poisoning themselves daily with their cosmetics, medications, and filthy living conditions.

Interesting read!

I’m so glad I didn’t abandon this book, although the first half really had me ready to. Once the author got going and talking more about actual cases of poison or suspected poison is when the book took off for me. I could’ve gone without the chapter on syphilis and the one on chamber pots.

Not a strong sequel
Revisado: 12-26-22
Definitely not as good as the original Zorro story. The sequel was a bit messy and all over the place. Situations seemed repetitive and several times Zorro did things that felt uncharacteristic. Overall I give the story 3.5 stars and would recommend fans of the character to read it.

Historia
Set in Los Angeles during the era of early 19th-century Colonial Spanish California, the story introduces us to wealthy, young aristocrat Don Diego de la Vega, son of the richest ranchero in the country. Don Diego is an idler who has never concerned himself with more than the cut of his clothes. Unlike other full-blooded youths of his age, he presents himself as a fop, lacking in vigor, vitality, and strength. But Vega’s timorous reputation is merely a mask to conceal his alter ego—El Zorro.

Historia
Through these 10 lectures, you will delve into the darkness of Poe’s most nightmarish stories, including “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Pit and the Pendulum”, and “The Fall of the House of Usher”. You’ll also learn how he invented the detective story and explored themes of love and loss in such poems as “Ulalume” and “Annabel Lee”. And you’ll discover how Poe employed symbolism, imagery, rhythm and rhyme, irony and paradox, repetition, simile, and foreshadowing to create a unique body of work.

Revisado: 07-17-20
What a fantastic book about the TopGun program, made known by the movie of the same name. I learned so much, not just about naval aviation but also about the Vietnam War that I was unaware of. Dan delivers the history with clarity, flair, and true love of his career.
I highly recommend this audio book. The reader has a great voice, easy to listen to. I was thoroughly sad for it to be over!

I absolutely loved this audio book. This was my first time using audible and I’m keeping my subscription! This book was so interesting and informative. The reader was by far the best I’ve ever listened to. Was engaging without being too perform-y or campy. I highly recommend if you want to learn about a mostly unknown part of the revolutionary war.
