Historia
The Eastern Christian tradition is filled with theological and spiritual riches. In Passions of the Soul, Rowan Williams opens up the great classics of Eastern Christian writing to show how it can help us to understand and cope with the ups and downs of modern life. With compelling and illuminating insight, he shows the cost of living in a culture that is theologically and philosophically undernourished, working with a diminished and trivialized picture of the human self.

Christians need to listen and adapt behavior
Revisado: 03-12-24
I’ve been a minister for years and have seen many leave the church. Mission combined with confession. Yes, of course. Listening. Yes, of course. Spiritual formation and engaging people’s lives rather than a short church service. So many good suggestions are here. Backing off from decisive political rhetoric. Being people who embrace God’s love through the fruit of the spirit to create flourishing here on earth. This is a good book!

Excellent brain science
Revisado: 08-28-23
The effects of sexuality on the brain is enlightening. Understanding addiction as well as healthy sexual relationships can save us from pain and suffering. I wish I had this when I was a teenager. The section on pornography addiction in the appendix is well worth the price of the book on its own. Thank you!

Historia
Awe is mysterious. How do we begin to quantify the goose bumps we feel when we see the Grand Canyon, or the utter amazement when we watch a child walk for the first time? How do you put into words the collective effervescence of standing in a crowd and singing in unison, or the wonder you feel while gazing at centuries-old works of art? In Awe, Dacher Keltner presents a radical investigation and deeply personal inquiry into this elusive emotion.

Marvelous
Revisado: 08-20-23
Infused with his own sense of awe, Keltner’s book drew me deeper into the beauty of our collective life. Superbly well done. Respectful of people of all faith and traditions. I highly recommend it and desire more awe in my own life, too!
