Lovely!
Revisado: 10-19-17
This story was perfect for my evening commute, and I found myself hanging to every word and forgetting about the traffic around me - just wonderful!
I love short books like this, with a story that fits the time constraint nicely and leaves you with a feeling of completion and liking the characters.
I got this book as a gift and leave this review voluntarily, but I'll be surely getting more books from the author (really, my commute sucks so books like this are a godsend). The narrator also did a wonderful job, with a pleasant voice and fitting voicing of the characters.

Addictive!
Revisado: 10-19-17
This is such an epic story, I loved it! There is intrigue, there's drama, there's action, there's a cliffhanger that made me super excited to see what's to come in the next installment, and there's also a budding romance.
The characters are gradually developed, and we grow attached to them - and therefore frustrated or disappointed sometimes! There were situations I found myself as if watching a character in a horror movie going to the room where the killer is, and screaming "nooo!" at the screen.
Stacy Bennett did a wonderful job writing this book, and Zachary Johnson was a great narrator. I got this one for free in exchange for an honest review, but I'm sure I'll be buying the next one.

Purrre romance!
Revisado: 10-19-17
I'll start off by saying I love cats, and that I agreed to leave a review in exchange for a copy of the book.
I gobbled it up in a day, the multiple-story format was great and all stories were cute and uplifting. Also, the stories had cats but were not -about- cats, you see? This way, even if you're not a huge cat fan you can still enjoy them!

Delightful read, or should I say... listen?
I was given this book and decided to leave an unbiased review voluntarily, since I loved it!
It's a clean mystery with enough twists and turns to entertain, and characters that are easy to like. Seriously, I finished it the same day I started, I just couldn't take my earphones off.

Hot romance!
Revisado: 10-18-17
We have a famous guy who isn't into meaningless sex anymore, and a young woman who's been kicked out and turns to sex to support herself. It's nice to see the chemistry between them, and follow them to their HEA!
I took a star from the narrator because, while super pleasant to listen to, at times I was confused by who was who since she used the same "voice" for all characters.
As for the story, I didn't completely love it because I thought the main characters could have avoided so much trouble, or at least gotten over it faster, had they just communicated better.
I was given this book for free in exchange for an unbiased review, but will be checking the author in the future!

I got this book in exchange for an unbiased review, and I loved it.
Barbara's books are wonderful, really, and I love how she always gets new narrators as main characters change from book from book. Tom did a wonderful job as a narrator and when reading the lines, injecting just the right amount of emotion.
I love romances, and it's so amazing to find gems that hold precious values and also have a dreamy narrative!

Pirates, oh my!
Revisado: 06-05-17
I was offered a copy in exchange for an honest review, and I jumped at the opportunity. Because... pirates!
This story was surprisingly engaging and detailed. You can easily notice a lot of research was done about the time and vessels. Don't worry, even if you - like me - are not familiar with nautical terms you will do just fine. In my case, I can even say I learned a lot!
I am glad I could get all the six books in a single volume, as the story is engaging and I kept wishing for more. At about three to four hours per book, it was the perfect length for a day of commute and housework.
I really started to care for Atia, and I think Elaine's narration helped with that. She has a very pleasant and fluid narration style, and was the perfect fit for the story in my opinion. Elaine made Atia sound so badass at times, and that alone made me a fan.
You better believe I'll keep an eye for more from the authors and narrator!

The year is 1929. As the world teeters on the brink of a global recession, Bletchley Park plays host to a rather special event. MI5 is celebrating its twentieth anniversary and a select band of former and current employees are gathering for a weekend of music, dance and heavy drinking. Among them is Sir Hilary Manningham-Butler, a middle aged woman whose entire adult life has been spent masquerading as a man. She doesn't know why she has been invited but it is clear she is not the only one with things to hide.

What an interesting premise!
Revisado: 06-05-17
I listened to the sample on Audible and was hooked from the start. I had the opportunity to ask the author for a copy in exchange for an honest review, and I jumped at it.
Jack Trebi did a wonderful job writing and narrating this story. The pacing is not too fast nor too slow, but just right to keep me engaged and expectant.
The story borrows from the right genre tropes to feel comfortable and familiar, while also developing well on its own. There is a healthy dose of humor, too! There were so many interesting characters too, even if few as intriguing as the middle-aged woman protagonist who masquerades as a man. The second book was my favorite, because when you are on a confined space - such as a zeppelin - there isn't much leeway for error.
The change of narrators was more felt because this is contains two books, I believe it would be less of an impact had it been two separate books. Still, Angela Dawe is a talented narrator and though it took me a bit to get used to a new voice I appreciate the new air she breathed into the story.
I will certainly read more from this author and listen to both narrators in the future.

Could become a fun movie!
Revisado: 06-04-17
I'm one of those people that usually go to the movies to see special effects and explosions. I prefer to watch quiet, dramatic or insightful movies at home, when I'm looking at the big screen I want noise and lots of cool guys walking away from explosions!
This would have been my kind of movie. Is it revolutionary or world-changing? No, it's not. It doesn't redefine the genre, but borrows from it to make up a fun story. I liked the female characters - Heather a little more than Lawson - and in fact thought they were a little more developed than the main character, who I thought to be a little too trusting at times.
Narration was great. The narrator's voice matched the image of the main character, in my opinion, and he did a fine job sounding more urgent or quieter when the scene called for it. I appreciated the fact that he didn't try to sound as a woman when voicing female characters, as that usually backfires.
At any rate, I received a copy in exchange for an honest review and I liked it. I saw some reviews mentioning spelling errors, but since I had access to the audiobook and not the print version I can't really tell.
All in all, a fun and non-pretentious read!

Could be two books, actually!
Revisado: 05-31-17
Everyone makes mistakes, but not all are ready to deal with their consequences. Silas wasn't ready, but he had to face his past and make things right before he could have a future.
This is a (non-preachy!) Christian, clean romance that I found so sweet! I could partly guess where the story was headed and what had actually happened, but I still found it great fun to follow the characters along. The story of Cassie and Silas was a good lesson on how to stay true to both your heart and what is right - and how to hold your ground when you see things are headed in the wrong direction.
This book can be divided into two archs, one about solving the past and one about solving the present. I found the second part - in particular what happened the day of the counseling - to be unnecessary. The second part of the book wasn't bad by any means, but I think the book would have been able to stand on its own without the added drama. I loved the first part of the book and was a little disappointed by what happened when things started getting back on track - it might have been because I'd finished Mail Order Compromise recently, and seeing a similar event wasn't as impactful.
Garrett Whitehead has a very pleasant voice and clear narration. I had listened to other books from the same author that had been narrated by the same female (Reagan Boggs) and even though she is very talented, it was a nice surprise to listen to the story being told by an equally talented male narrator. Will definitely look forward to listening more from him in the future! I removed a star because - though I'm not sure whether this is a narration or an editing issue - I felt some sentences ran into others. At times a new scene/chapter started without any pause as an indication, so it irked me a little that some characters appeared to teleport or appear out of nowhere!
I asked the author for a free copy of the story in exchange for a review, and I was happily surprised! Barbara Gross writes stories that are usually shorter than others, but that's because she doesn't spend time on nonsense. It's very nice to start and finish a book in the same day, even though I miss the characters a little when it ends.
Definitely recommend!
