The core material is excellent but the author fails to apply the same critical examination to liberal/neoliberal claims. For instance the author refers repeatedly to the published writings of Malcolm Nance, an individual who was forced to depart the intelligence community in disgrace, is retarded as prone to serial exaggeration and narcissistic behaviors. This information is verifiable but the author needs to challenge neoliberal allies to the same extent he appropriately evaluates someone like a Qanon promoter or a talk radio propagandist like Sean Hannity.

Similar problems reside in the factually ungrounded claims about the 2016 election. As a career expert in cybersecurity, I am quite familiar with the Crowdstrike report of the DNC breach and the attribution that could not be esblished toward Russia. Before the Senate Committee, the Crowdstrike CEO admitted there was no evidence for attribution. Worse yet, the author implicates Wikileaks where there is no factual data to date for such a claim, and also states actual voting machines were hacked - an item that would be news to the cyber and IC world.
This ideological skew does take away from an otherwise exceptional work as it leaves the reader asking: why is the author gaslighting me? Does he not know he's possibly under moderate ideological influence again? Per the tests he recommends in the second to last chapter, why hasn't he engaged those questions on his own ideological frame?
Reconciliation of these issues in a further edition would likely result in a superior text. By no means do these ideological framing problems of the author render this text as unworthy. The core material is exceptional. The Qanon coverage was fresh and relevant even in August 2020. The book is on my recommended list for colleagues in my professional with the obvious note that there is some excess partisan subjectivity and reliance on discredited sources.
The narration was exceptional. Five stars. I'm glad the author read it himself as that brings considerable authenticity.

Enjoyable story about one developers making key parts of Apple's software. By no means intended to be a definitive statement on Apple culture, the book shares wonderful first hand perspectives and shares how the author learned and negotiated a remarkable environment, bringing many of us experiences we use all the time on our iPhones and other Apple products.
