Couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 10-02-22
I have enjoyed Bryan Freeman's books over the last year with my audible subscription. This is by far one of his best books that I have read.. The plot is twisted, the characters are complicated, and the storyline will keep you guessing until the very end

Revisado: 11-01-21
From start to finish this book held my argentine and kept me guessing. If you've read The Deep Deep Snow, this might be considered a prelude, and will answer a lot of questions. I'm now going to back and reread the Deep Deep Snow to see if I can catch anything I may have missed.

Historia
One rainy night, the unthinkable happens: Dylan Moran’s car plunges off the road into a raging river, his beautiful wife drowning as he struggles to shore. In the aftermath, through his grief, Dylan experiences sudden, strange visions: wherever he goes, he’s haunted by glimpses of himself. Dylan initially chalks it up to trauma, but that changes when he runs into a psychiatrist who claims he’s her patient. She says he has been undergoing a unique hypnotherapy treatment built on the idea that with every choice, he creates an infinite number of parallel universes.

Bizarre beyond my belief
Revisado: 09-25-21
I read previous reviews and thought I'd give it a go. I've lived the other books by Brian Freeman, so I assumed my viewpoint would be no different. I really can't decide if I liked it, but the story line was intriguing and I wasn't expecting the ending.

Historia
It’s 1996, and Reacher is still in the army. In the morning they give him a medal, and in the afternoon they send him back to school. That night he’s off the grid. Out of sight, out of mind. Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there. Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown.

not what you're used to
Revisado: 08-31-21
For those of you reading the series in order, this book trashes you back to a time when Reacher was still serving in the armed forces. Predictable in the fact you knew the villain, but interesting events leading up to the climax. I enjoyed this one!

When a freak accident kills a driver on the remote roads outside Duluth, Jonathan Stride is disturbed to discover that the victim appears to be a "ghost", with a false identity and no evidence to suggest who he really was. What's worse, the man has a gun locked in the trunk - and it has recently been fired. The next day Stride learns that a Duluth college student has vanished and worries that the two incidents are related. But what would have put an ordinary young woman in the crosshairs of a man who has all the hallmarks of an assassin for hire?

I'm not going to lie, I thought I had figured it out about halfway through the book. And then I had doubts with my decision but in the end my decision was correct. Very well written.

Historia
It has been almost a decade since Duluth said good-bye to its innocence. The city creeps ever closer to the 10th anniversary of the year in which it found itself both gripped by murder and united in terror and during which the pillar of its community, DS Jonathan Stride, had his home and heart torn to ribbons by the claws of cancer. Cat Mateo, an orphan with a knack for landing on her feet, has bid farewell to a life on the streets. This once-stray teenager owes her rescue to Detective Stride, the father figure she holds close to her heart.

So many plot twists
Revisado: 05-20-21
I highly recommend reading the series in order since it helps understand recollections made throughout by the characters. Although this book did jostle back and forth to the past, the transiting were necessary and it provided a unique opportunity to tie up loose ends.

This book was definitely not how I imagined Detective Stride and his partner Serena continuing their work after the first book. Be open-minded when listening, and understand that the setting is Vegas.... what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

A story to make you ponder
Revisado: 02-06-21
I was moved by the number of characters in the intertwining of all of their stories at the end. The plot gives you pause for thought, and I realized this could realistically occur in any town at any time. I listen to audible while driving and found myself wanting to volunteer for errand running just so that I could listen.
