Historia
Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun, when her mother suddenly arrived at the abbey to take her home...so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed. From the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy, sweet bride...and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her.

Outlander is rolling in the grave.
Revisado: 08-15-22
Too much truly badly written sex scenes. Plus impossible to imagine anyone as villainous as sister Kate. On the other side is an ENTIRE chapter dedicated to the aromas emanating from a dog with the runs. An entire chapter! Who thinks this is acceptable??????

It went on and on and on..,
Revisado: 08-12-22
It was torturous. Poorly written. At times juvenile, utterly predictable and WAY TOO LONG. Save yourself the money. I’d rather sit through the most excruciating of The Great Courses than this badly written repetitive dribble. Ugh what a train wreck of a book.

TMI?
Revisado: 01-24-22
Maybe it’s because he is an historical figure who was alive during my childhood but I felt like a voyeur reading the sex scenes. It was uncomfortable - but maybe that’s my problem. When the protagonist lived well before you were born there is distance and elapsed time; it takes you out of the picture and somehow descriptions of physical intimacy are not cringe inducing the way this was. Henry VIII; ok. Eisenhower? Not so much.

Historia
Laid off from her department store job, Carmen has perilously little cash and few options. The prospect of spending Christmas with her perfect sister Sofia, in Sofia’s perfect house with her perfect children and her perfectly ordered yuppie life, does not appeal. Frankly, Sofia doesn’t exactly want her prickly sister Carmen there, either. But Sofia has yet another baby on the way, a mother desperate to see her daughters get along, and a client who needs help revitalizing his shabby old bookshop. So Carmen moves in and takes the job.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY or CREDITS
Revisado: 11-20-21
This book is truly awful. The main chapter has no redeeming qualities. The author writes for 14 year olds. Who wants to read chapter after chapter of whining children’s’ dialogue? The narrator really gets into it too, which makes it even more awful. Screeching inane junk that has nothing redeeming about it. The only thing worse is an author who repeatedly and lovingly transcribes animal sounds. “M- EE- OO-WW”! Since the tile is about a bookshop and it’s set in Edinburgh I had hoped for something entertaining and maybe a little bit substantive? Not even close. I’m purging this puerile drivel from my library.

Revisado: 08-06-21
What a boring unfunny juvenile read. There is nothing charming about it. The stories aren’t witty or amusing. It reads like a teenagers diary. Ugh! Don’t bother with this one!

Historia
Paula Power, the daughter of a wealthy railway magnate, inherits De Stancy Castle, an ancient castle in need of modernization. She commissions a young architect from London, George Somerset, to undertake the work. Somerset falls in love with Paula. But Paula, the Laodicean of the title, meaning a person who is lukewarm or halfhearted, is torn between George's admiration and that of Captain De Stancy, whose old-world romanticism contrasts with Somerset's forward-looking outlook.

Not the Most Famous Hardy Work
Revisado: 09-17-20
But a very satisfying read. The heroine is another of Harry’s well written characters -a free independent spirit - who realizes her choice of a mate has nothing to do with possessing a glorious ancestry.
