It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

Historia
After a night of fun back in 1992, Abby is responsible for a car crash that kills her beloved brother. It's a mistake she can never forgive, so she pushes away Liam, the man she loves most, knowing that he would eventually hate her for what she's done, the same way she hates herself. Twenty years later, Abby's husband, Nate, is also living with a deep sense of guilt. He was the driver who first came upon the scene of Abby's accident, the man who could not save her brother in time. It's this guilt, this regret, that binds them together. Then, Liam moves into the neighborhood....

Very good book. The first few chapters were a bit slow moving for me. Read in just 2 days. Somethings were easy to figure out but others weren’t. I didn’t see the end coming. Loved the narration

He dreams of glass towers and cityscapes, driven by his desire to be anywhere other than Jessup, Missouri. Chicago cop Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels has chased and caught dozens of dangerous criminals over the course of her career. But she's about to meet her match. When Jack wakes up in a storage locker, bound and gagged, she knows with chilling certainty who her abductor is. He's called "Mr. K," and more than two hundred homicides have been attributed to him. His victims have died in the most horrible ways imaginable: he is the essence of evil. Some think he's just an urban legend, but he's very, very real. Jack has tangled with him twice in the past, and both times he managed to slip away.

Stop the madness
Revisado: 09-02-20
I've read 7 books in this series. I thought the first one was a bit hokey but decided to give the second one a try. Okay, I'm starting to like the rough attitude of all these cops and friends. By the third book in the series I'm starting to wonder how many different ways the author could write basically the same story over and over. Determined, I carried on. Read another and another. By #7 I'd had enough. How many times can one cop get attacked in what is the same circumstances by maniacs in the same circle of friends/relatives? I don't mind suspending reality in my reads but this one was just getting too over the top. Every book seemed like a replay of the book before, same characters, same situations, same plot lines, same endings. I think the only reason I got as far as I did is because the books were offered free in my kindle unlimited and making them into audible books was only 1.99 . The good news? They were all a fast listen.

Didn't think any of the characters were likable but maybe they weren't' supposed to be. The story seemed to drag on a bit too long and I didn't think there were any major surprises. A nice book about a bunch of not so nice characters.

Revisado: 08-11-19
Writing was a bit too flowery for me, the main character seemed a bit too cardboard/perfect/strong woman type. Couldn't find a character I really cared about or came to life for me and the closer I got to the end the heavier the religious over tones.
